They arrived at William's house. There was no one in there as William's parents weren't going to be home the whole weekend and Wanda was with her plans. William didn't want to be left alone at that moment and to be honest, Percy didn't want that either.
They stepped into the quiet, empty house, the silence almost palpable after the whirlwind of emotions and noise from earlier. William felt a shiver run down his spine as he entered, the loneliness of the space echoing the turmoil in his heart. He glanced at Percy, who gave him a reassuring smile.
-Do you want to talk about it? -Percy asked softly, guiding William to the couch.
William shook his head, sinking onto the couch and burying his face in his hands. He felt the weight of everything pressing down on him, the day's events replaying in his mind like a relentless loop. Percy sat down beside him, close but not too close, giving William space while still being a comforting presence.
-It's just... -William began, his voice muffled by his hands. -I feel so stupid. I let Marco get to me, and now everyone knows.
Percy reached out, placing a gentle hand on William's shoulder.
-You are not stupid, Will. Marco is the one who's messed up. And honestly, anyone who would judge you for being yourself isn't worth your time.
William looked up at Percy, his eyes red and puffy from crying. He could see the sincerity in Percy's eyes, and it made his heart ache with a mixture of gratitude and something else he couldn't quite name.
-Thanks, Percy. I... I don't know what I'd do without you.
Percy gave him a small, encouraging smile.
-You're stronger than you think, William. And I'm here for you, no matter what. We'll get through this together.
William nodded, feeling a flicker of hope ignited within him. He leaned back against the couch, letting out a deep breath.
-Can we just... I don't know, watch a movie or something? I need to get my mind off things.
Percy nodded eagerly.
-Of course. How about something light and funny? We could both use a good laugh.
William managed a small smile.
-Yeah, that sounds good.
They spent the next few hours watching a series of comedies, the laughter gradually easing the tension and fear that had gripped William's heart. With Percy by his side, the weight of his worries seemed a little lighter, and for the first time in what felt like forever, he began to believe that things might just be okay.
The hours passed and William felt more tired, so tired that he fell asleep on Percy's shoulder.
Percy didn't make a move, he didn't even take a breath. He didn't want to wake up William, so he didn't do anything about William's sleepy head. Instead, he tried to be comfortable, he closed his eyes trying to sleep.
Percy lay there, feeling the warmth of William's head resting against his shoulder. His heart raced, but he forced himself to stay still, not wanting to disturb the fragile peace that had settled over them. The soft rise and fall of William's breathing was a comfort, a reminder that, despite everything, they were here together.
As he closed his eyes, Percy let his thoughts drift. The day's events had been overwhelming, and he couldn't shake the image of William standing in the street, the bus bearing down on him. The fear and relief of that moment still lingered, but now, with William safely beside him, Percy allowed himself to relax.
