Day 1, chapter 1
It was early in the morning, and Frank was already up and ready for the new campers to arrive. The time stood at 6:37 am, not even the counselors were awake yet, which was about to change soon. Frank met with Jacob to start preparing breakfast, or at least a snack, for the kids when they would arrive. The counselors would receive their final meal of luxury before they were permitted to help make their own food. By 7:15, Frank was outside the counselors cabin, he unlocked the door, and went inside. To his surprise, Molly was awake and at the table with her phone. "Well good morning Molly!" Frank greeted her. It clicked inside Mollys head that he had seen the phone, and now everything was going to be confiscated. "Well, might as well go wake Zara, and let her know I'm collecting devices. Thank you!" He said before heading to the boys room.
Inside the room was a sleeping Carl. Carl snores lightly, before twitching in his sleep. Frank turned the light on, making Carl twitch again. Frank sighed, "CARL!!" He yelled, before his target launched upwards, still in his bed. "What, what do you want? It's too early.." he nearly cried. He leaned forward, stretching his arms, before letting out an exaggerated groan and whine. "Do we have to get up this early to get campers? Seriously?" He questioned. "No, go get ready, breakfast is almost done. Campers arrive here at 10, or maybe 10:30. Hurry!" Frank said, before leaving the room as he scurried to the bathroom. He went to go back downstairs before he realized Yukio was passed out on the rug. "Oh man…" he whispered. He made his way over to the boy and shook him awake. "Hey, Yukio, you can't sleep here bud. It's time to get up." He said, trying to stand him up. Yukio looked dazed, his eyes were unfocused, he could barely hold himself up. "Alright sir, I'll go get ready.." he said, before trying to make it to the steps. "Just call me Frank! Sir makes me feel old.." He said, before turning back to the door.
'Did Zara and Molly know about the time?' He wondered. He made it a point not to go into the girls room, so he was stuck for a second. He decided to just knock and relay the news from outside. For the third time that morning, he was back on the steps. He knocked a few times on the door to the girls room. "Hey, it's time to get up! I'm not coming in due to privacy concerns, but be ready soon. Breakfast will be served and the kids get here sometime after 10 am. Be prepared, and Goodmorning!" He said before adding one more thing. "Also everyone come out and put their devices into the bucket!!" He yelled loud enough for everyone to hear. Molly and Yukio opened their doors, with many devices in hand. "These are all Carls, and the purple phone is mines." He said trying to explain all the extra, unnecessary equipment. "All of this is mine, Zara didn't actually bring her phone apparently.." Molly said, cringing at that thought. She also reluctantly put her headphones in the bin, saying her final goodbye before going back to get ready. With that, he left the cabin finally.
With his first job done, he now went to check on Jacob. He checked his watch, that whole wake up interaction, collecting phones, and the walk back took him all of 23 minutes. It was 7:38 when he opened the dining hall doors. He could already smell the food being cooked. "How's breakfast going, Jacob? Need any help?" He offered, of course, he had nothing else to do for now. Jacob stuck his head through the small window area before briefly yelling out, "No I'm alright!", and immediately went back to work.
With nothing else left to do, he decided to go to the staff building to make some seriously important calls. The campers were getting transported by planes and buses, and he needed to make sure everyone made it through. He dialed the drivers number, who was in charge of the post airport transportation. After a brief call, confirming he's dropped the kids off at the designated location to catch the coach bus to camp, he sighed relieved. He had one more call to make. He finally had one more call to make, a somewhat important one. "Hey did you drop him off with the rest?" He spoke into the phone. When he got his response, he finally felt less stressed about everything. "That's good, I promise he'll be in good hands! This could be a good opportunity for him, he'll make friends and have fun I promise." Frank said before hanging up the phone. Originally it was supposed to be 9 campers, but one extra would be attending the camp.
