I'm getting further annoyed now. For real, I'm at my limits. But instead of saying anything, I simply look at this guy in front of me, who is far too gorgeous for his own good. It's annoying that he is. I narrow my eyes and his blue eyes sparkle with something I really can't get ahold of. It's at that moment I realize that I haven't answered him, rather just stared. So, instead of using my ATPs to open my mouth, and then, answer, and vice versa, I just nod at the seat beside me permitting him to sit.
The corners of his mouth twitch, but he doesn't say anything and takes a seat. Instead of gawking at him more, which I wasn't, I look ahead of me and pretend that his presence beside me does not affect me at all.
No more than two minutes after his voice cuts through the air. I look at him with a questionable look, thinking that maybe, just maybe, I heard him wrong. But he doesn't budge and repeats, "Nervous?"
This is the point where I speak for the first time since I took this seat, "Why would I be nervous?"
He shrugs simply as if he didn't catch me off guard just now.
"I don't know. Your tense shoulders, the way you're cracking your knuckles, and trying to avoid me. When I entered the room, you were fidgeting with your knees, but you've been extremely tense since I took this seat."
"I'm not avoiding you!" Of all the things that he said, this is what annoyed me the most, what the hell!
"Eh, yes, you are!"
I'm glaring at him now. What does this guy even think of himself? I'm totally totally and TOTALLY annoyed! Instead of answering him cause, well, why should I? If he saw that I was avoiding him, he'd get to know more by my answer, which I know is a stupid thought but I prefer to be cautious. So, I ask him this instead, "Who're you?"
"Eh, me?" He points at himself as if he didn't hear me right. Heat rises to my cheek. Is it hot in here or what?
"Yes, you!" I grit my teeth and level my gaze with his.
The corners of his mouth lift slightly. A moment ago, they were there, then, they are gone which makes me wonder if I saw it wrong.
He shakes his head but gives a straight answer, "I'm Cedric." Maybe he saw how annoyed I am or maybe he just got bored and didn't want to press the matter any further. Oh well! Whatever it is, at least he gave a straight answer, but a very tiny part of me sure wanted him to tease me but of course, I'd be keeping this thought to myself.
"Eve!" I say giving a one-word answer instead of elaborating on things and everything.
"Pleasure!" He says holding out his hand to me. I glance a look at his hand and then at his arched eyebrows, and I don't know what compels me but I move out my hand to shake his and look him in the eyes that are holding that strange sort of sparkle to them again and his lips, God, those lips, they are stretched into a warm smile making my stomach flip. His smile is so warm and beautiful. And this is annoying because of the way this stranger can make me do things he wants me to and I don't even fight back nor reject, but do them so which has never been the case in my life before, and strangely, I don't even hate it.
