"So, Eve, how old are you?" Cedric asks. Why does this guy talk so much? I bite on my bottom lip and consider his question for a moment. Well, not the question, but rather the thought if I should answer him or not. My gut is completely against answering his question but all my nerves have drowned down the line ever since this guy appeared with those glossy-blue gorgeous eyes of his. So, of course, I answer him. "Twenty-one, two months back."

He looks amused, so, I ask, "What?"

He shakes his head slowly, the glint still there in his eyes, "Nothing. I'm just thinking that you're a kid."

I glare while he smiles, a full-fledged pretty, and a warm smile. His smile should be illegal.

"I'm twenty-three" is what he says.

"That doesn't make me a kid." I snap.

"Once a kid, always a kid." He pats my head gently. I want more. But instead, I smack his hand to move him away.

The soft laugh that comes out of him is enriched with warmth and nourished in hot-bubbling sweet caramel.

I was nurturing myself with his smile when my ears started buzzing, and my eyes grew heavy while blackness evaded my senses. Cedric next to me has the same effect from the radiations that have been released by the Bangrael Army again. This brings me to the conclusion that Cedric is still a human and is here to be turned into a vampire, just like me.

We both cover our ears while somebody tugs on my arm. I open my eyes to find a pained Cedric motioning for me to get up. My eyes and brain are still heavy because of the sensation, so, I let him direct me. We get out of the room where we have to wait for our turn. There were other people or vampires too, but I didn't get to see or notice anything because I was caught in my own self.

The moment I open my eyes, the dizzy and heavy sensation is lesser than before. I look around and find out that we are in a dark corridor of a building. I find Cedric sitting on the floor next to me, looking at me with weary eyes. Looks like he got his senses earlier than me.

"You okay?" He asks and I nod.

"Where are we?" I look around trying to avoid his soft gaze.

"A few corridors down the room we should be in."

"I don't get it," I say, confused, "The radiations cannot enter the buildings, then, how?"

"There was a small hole in the window."

"Oh!" This is when I look at him only to find him having a serious expression on his face and I wonder, this is the first time I've seen him this serious since I met him. But even like this, he's so beautiful. I find myself chanting about his beauty over and over, but I don't know why, I just can't have enough.

"What?" He asks when he finds me constantly looking at him. I feel my cheeks turn red, so, I look away.

"I need some water," I whisper. I feel him nod beside me.

"Can you get up?"

This time, I nod and look up; I find him already on his feet, holding his hand out to me to help me get up.

I don't object, of course. I give my hand in his to find out his skin hotter than it should be.

He somehow, I still don't know how, understands what I'm thinking and answers before I even ask, "My body is usually hotter than the normal body temperature. Gives me the privilege of taking off more often from work."

For the first time in days, I laugh. It isn't a loud sort of laughter and all, but in days, I felt something instead of the hollowness and the grief bearing inside me and I love it. I'm starting to like this person in front of me who can make me feel some human emotions.
