Xie Sen sat on the couch and thought. The Plant System didn’t have a plant at first, and the plant needed to consume gratitude energy to activate it. That gratitude energy came from the gratitude of others to the owner that was given to the System. Xie Sen remembered very clearly that when he first got the System, Adam said that different people had different psychologies and could give different gratitude energies, with a value from one to ten.

He was able to immediately see the extreme values of other people’s gratitude energy since it was after the apocalypse. Personal experience had made him fully aware that even if he did the same good deed, the energy was different from different people.

When he collected 10 energy, he activated the first plant. Now, not only was Adam’s voice not in his head, there was also no System panel. He wasn’t sure if the first plant was still activated with only 10 energy.

In any case, he had to do his best to collect energy.

Brandt Star was a Beast Star, and inheriting the beast will was the strongest rule of life. With the ability to survive very well, the Plant System could not only help him eat but also help him fight, as activating a plant could enhance his abilities.

His near-death experience in the post-apocalyptic world gave him a wake-up call that he had to work hard to become stronger! If he had activated more plants, he might have been able to defeat that zombie dog.

What’s more, Brandt Star’s plants were scarce. After activating a plant, he wouldn’t have to eat meat every day in the future. That was more unbearable for him than eating vegetarian every day. Plus if he couldn’t finish the vegetables, he could still sell them for money.

As he thought about money, Xie Sen thought of the balance text message he received earlier. He hastily opened his personal bracelet, checked the bank card, looked around, saw the balance of five hundred and eight. With the Chinese food and taxi, he had spent more than fifty.

He was stunned. A meal box lunch was ten star coins. How could he live with such little money?

He thought about it and went to the Internet to check the information about how Beast Star people opened accounts, and got the result that each person could only own one bank card. His hopes were dashed. He closed the web page, and his eyes fell on the personal private information of the tablet. Thinking that Beast Star may have other money saving software, the tablet may have recorded the relevant information!

He used his fingerprint to unlock the password and read the original’s tablet. The tablet didn’t contain much content, only the events of special days, many of which were related to his adoptive parents.

The original’s adoptive parents weren’t often at home because of work, but when it was the original’s birthday, they would try to stay at home with him. Even if they weren’t at home, they would also send gifts. The original’s life was filled with joy and love, but since his adoptive parents were killed three years ago, his world began to fall.

What made him run away and despair even more was that, after his sixteenth birthday, he didn’t awaken his contract beast. As a result, he was subjected to a lot of cold-eyed ridicule, and malicious speculation at school. His whole being was in pain.

The day before yesterday, he celebrated his eighteenth birthday, but the contract beast still had not awakened. His only hope was dashed.

Xie Sen read his predecessor’s suicide note with an extra heavy heart. As the doctor said, his predecessor committed suicide. Xie Sen was afraid of not awakening the contract beast, and with no family to rely on, his heart was under great pressure.

Xie Sen closed the tablet, rubbed the bridge of his nose, and let out a long breath to get rid of his frustration. He took a moment to face up to his current situation. He only had 58% of his savings. The consolation was that he still had an apartment, so he wasn’t going to go to the bridge to rob someone else’s land, but he couldn’t survive with only a place to live.

He still needed to collect energy, and it wasn’t easy to get the gratitude of others without financial supplies or super powers. He could only do good things, like helping grandmothers cross the road. This wasn’t feasible in Beast Star!

The first thing he needed to do was earn money. With money, he could collect energy to make life easier, Xie Sen thought, and immediately went online to find out what he could do.

After he looked for a long time, he couldn’t help but sigh. A good job required a diploma, and students who hadn’t graduated could only work part-time for much less pay.

He was now in his third year of college. After March 26th, he had to take the graduation exam, there was work practice from April to June, taking a professional practical test in July, a comprehensive score in August, and only after he gained a passing score would he finally be issued a diploma.

This meant that he had to work part-time for at least four months.

Graduation exam? He immediately looked up the plant department’s group text message. The graduation exam was March 28th. Two days away!

How could he, an Earth person, pass the graduation exam with only two days to spare? And the graduation exam accounted for sixty percent of the overall score! Xie Sen couldn’t help but lament in his heart. He had grown up to be at the top of his class, but when he arrived in a different world he had to go through an exam?

He thought about opening the plant department courseware to see what the plant department was learning. He was thinking that if he couldn’t understand, he would simply be absent from the examination, so as not to delay the time he would spend working part-time. But after he saw the content of the courseware, he stared in surprise. Most of the plants introduced on the courseware were common vegetables and fruits on Earth.

He quickly scanned the courseware from top to bottom, then turned off the courseware in a relaxed mood, and started looking for part-time jobs. The only job that suited him was working as a florist. He had helped a florist before, and had some experience.

He was curious about what flowers sold in the flower store would be like, given the scarcity of plants here and the strong vitality of the plants that could survive in Beast Star.

When he arrived at the flower store, and saw a row of good-looking boys in the back studio of the flower store with their heads down doing crafts, he froze.

It turned out that florists here didn’t sell real flowers, just handmade silk flowers. He looked at his palms, thought of the little savings left, and dismissed the idea of turning around. He followed the team leader’s lead.

Thirty minutes later, the team leader looked at his fingers, which were bleeding from the wire, with a twitchy mouth and kindly suggested, “I don’t think this job is for you, do you?”

Xie Sen pushed the cloth and wire in his hands into the leader’s hand. “I think so too, thank you.”

He wanted the job so badly that he learned it patiently for half an hour, but the facts told him that he couldn’t do it. He continued to look for a job, and after an afternoon of searching, he couldn’t find the right one. Many companies heard that he hadn’t graduated yet, and rejected him outright.

He walked away from a more distant factory. If he had a choice, he wouldn’t have chosen this one, and the other disliked his lack of strength. His body was tired and his heart was tired, as he walked down the street with little energy. The smell of meat came to his nose, and woke his hunger. He had walked a lot today to save on fares, and had consumed a lot of energy.

He looked at the time. It was already past six o’clock.

At that moment, a person brushed past him from behind him. He glanced at them casually, then his eyes immediately lit brightly.

Before he had time to think, he had already taken a quick step forward, and reached out to grab the other man’s shoulder, “Handsome, please wait!”

The man’s footsteps stopped, Xie Sen raised a smile, and took a step forward to walk in front of the other, only for him to take a step. Xie Sen’s hand on the other man’s shoulder slipped as if he were about to hug this random man.

The other man’s body stiffened. He grabbed Xie Sen’s hand and threw it away. Xie Sen was stunned. He tried to withdraw his hand, but unexpectedly, his other hand was now also held by the man.

He ended up hugging the other man from the back.

“Let go!” The nice voice had a heavy warning in it.
