Looking back at his hut, Karn felt loneliness and emptiness not only there but also in his heart. He thought to himself What is this feeling, it's as if I am alone but I am still with someone, I have never felt this way before, why do I want to meet her again. Am I falling in love? no this is crazy! We just met for a day, I guess I just have been alone for a long time , haven't I.
After his internal monologue, Karn braced himself and calmed his mind with the help of some meditation. He was finally ready to go towards the next phase of his life - Mahendragiri Parvat.
As he was done packing, He first payed his respect to God Shiva then to Maa Ganga asking for their blessing in this phase of his life. He looked at his hut one last time and remembered the time he spent here since his birth. This got him a bit emotional but life goes on and he then went towards his way.
As he went ahead, he suddenly thought I am going to bhagwan Parshuram for tutelage. But he vowed to only teach brahmans. I do not even know my own caste. As I was brahman in my last life and kshatriya in this one. I will have to let him decide my caste and for what reason must he break his vow for me? Unless I am sincere and have full devotion for my guru.
He then stood up and took handful of water and proclaimed, "I Karn, hereby make an oath to walk till Mahendragiri bare foot and eat only one time a day to show my devotion to my guru and to show him my devotion towards knowledge I will ask for tutelage from various gurus and after 100 gurus rejected me then I will begin my journey towards my goal."
After which he took off his sandals he was wearing, and then begin the journey that will shape his future into the sun that will brighten the future of Aryavart.
He begin walking, asked for gurukul and then went there to humbly ask for tutelage only to be rejected again and again. This had a drastic effect on Karn, he thought How did the Karn from the epic face such rejection and still moved ahead. His will power must really be something, as I even knowing the future am not able to cope myself out of it. This proves that I must learn a lesson from this and learn how to face even failure with open arms and learn from it like I will do with my victories.
With this Karn repeated this cycle, Until the day he reached Guru Draonacharya gurukul where he requested to become a disciple. However, with no surprise was rejected. He was even made fun of. Karn did not mind this as he recently got used to it. He moved on.
Today was the day he went to the 100th gurukul to request for being accepted as a disciple. But before even he was allowed to enter, his caste was asked and again after replying that he did not know, he faced the same rejection that he faced a 100 times now.
After 100 rejection he then thought Bhagwan I have showed my devotion towards knowledge by requesting 100 gurus for tutelage and my devotion to gain it from you by walking at your door barefoot from my home.
Then, He went ahead to complete his journey toward Mahendragiri.
One fine morning, Karn finally saw a mountain standing tall, it's peak as if wanting to tear apart the sky. It's beauty as if mother nature personally decorated it with its most beautiful ornament. Its piousness as if gods were residing there.
