Chapter 5: Spiderling and drums

-World of Old Arcadia-

Journey left the spiderlings as he went out once more, leaving them alone with who was once the drum demon, a former lower moon. Rui was able to identify him since they did have a meeting many moons ago, despite being turned human. Hana(sister spider) was feeling a bit tense being brought along with his younger brother who was staring intensely at the man.

Rui: "Would you explain yourself? Why have you abandoned your duties for Muzan-sama?"

Kyogai: "I am no longer of use to Muzan anymore, I was given a second chance to live my own life. A chance even that man himself wouldn't have even brought up. That boy is kind, he should not be tainted by him."

Rui: "You… you mean he gave you another shot at life? You cannot run away from who you are, former lower moon 5."

Kyogai: "But I can change, there is nothing or anyone left waiting for me back there… I can make up for everything I've done here."

Kyogai is still writing, he is still committed to the book he is writing. He has been working on it for days. Now he looks at the spider demon, he is curious as to why Journey brought him here.

Kyogai: "He has also convinced you, you wouldn't be here if he didn't give you an earful."

Rui: "... Something of being a part of a much bigger community."

Hana: "I-i can see what he means, it's not just family members supporting each other, it's everyone around us. I don't know why but the people here seem… n-nice."

Rui: "You don't know that, we just got here because of the boy Muzan-sama wants."

Kyogai: "I have been here sometime, the people in this island are much more tranquil and willing to help others. You'd be surprised how they preferably want to understand and help out in any way possible. They have encouraged me to finish what I should have done a long time ago."

Rui: "You have gotten soft for someone who was a demon before."

Just as Kyogai was gonna say otherwise, Last Vanilla enters to check upon him for the last time before finding him a home. Her cheery smiles smile was brightening the room to the point of forcing everyone to wear sunglasses.

Last Vanilla: "Hello Kyogai! I'm here to check you before we get into moving to a place of your own."

Rui looks at the woman near the door, he wonders who she is. Last Vanilla also happened to look at the spiderlings, rushing towards them and giving them a bear hug.

Last Vanilla: "You two are the cutest beings I've seen! I already like you two so much!"

Just like Journey, her own mother has also a soft spot for anything or anyone small or cute. The spiderlings felt weird… a warm yet kind sensation on them, a feeling they never had.

Last Vanilla: "Now what are you two doing here?"

Hana: "Journey brought us here!"

"Odd, since when did my sister become so… happy?" Rui thought.

Last Vanilla: "I would just easily take you two in! Unfortunately I'm busy at the moment, so maybe I can ask Dark Milk later."

Rui: "Excuse me, but why is his name Dark Milk…"

Last Vanilla: "Ah, that's because he comes from the Cacao kingdom. Everyone's name depends on what kingdom they come from, others could be their traits or jobs they like! Like my name, Last Vanilla, it comes from the floating island in the sky, the vanilla kingdom."
