Twice Shy [ON GOING]

CHAPTER THIRTY ONE

Gia

I sat next to my bedroom window, which was basically a glass wall. I sighed lightly as I quietly watched the sun setting behind the mountains.

It's been two days since Viktor left and I've been in my room talking to him on the phone for the most parts of my days. And to be fair nobody really wants me here so I won't force my presence on anyone.

I heard a soft knock coming from my door so I looked over at the door before I reluctantly got up from the comfy chair I was sitting on and made my way over to the door.

I opened the door and found Luciano standing in front of me.

"Hey," he greeted me in a tone one would use when talking to a lost child.

"Hi."

"Why haven't you come down all day?" He asked me in a concerned tone so I stepped aside so that he could enter my room. We sat down in front of my bedroom window and I let out a soft sigh.

"I want to be by myself." I softly told him and he frowned at me.

"And why is that?"

"I'm safer this way. Nothing can hurt me if I'm alone." I softly told Luciano so he gently squeezed my hand in his.

"I hear you." He softly told me while looking into my eyes.

"I'm sorry if I came off as rude. That's never my intention." I told him and he nodded at me.

"I know, Gia. I don't blame you, your feelings are valid and I understand if you need some space after everything that's happened to you." He pointedly told me.

"Thank you for understanding." I told him and he nodded at me.

"When you're ready there's a farm waiting to be explored by you and employees who are waiting to meet you, people who care about you are patiently waiting for you to brighten up their day again." He told me so I smiled at him.

"I think the only way for me to know if I'm ready would be if I leave this room, right?" I asked him and he nodded at me.

"Unless you're a pussy." He told me with a smirk on his face.

"I'm not a pussy." I argued before I got up from my chair. "Let's go." I told him with a determined look on my face and he chuckled at my words.

"Put some shoes on first." He told me so I nodded at him before I put on a pair of white sneakers. We left my bedroom before we went downstairs together.

"Hey, Gia!" Vera greeted me in a bubbly tone and I tried my best not to show the shock on my face.

"Hey, Gia!" Paige's voice came from the kitchen so I smiled at her.

"Hi!" I greeted both Vera and Paige and Luciano smiled down at me. Now I get it he asked them to be nicer to me.

"See, they're not all that bad." He told me so I just smiled at his words.

"Gia!" Mrs Marroquín excitedly yelled when she came out of the living room and spotted me standing next to Luciano. She pulled me into a thight hug so I smiled into her shirt.

"You've missed out on so much, I just went to feed the chickens with Lizzy. Oh! And last night Paigey stepped in some cow poop. You would've died laughing." She said before laughing at Paige.

"I'm never going to live this down am I?" Paige asked and Luciano and I laughed at her.

"Not a chance. Oh tell her about Birdy!" Paige excitedly told Vera so we all went over to sit in the living room.

"So, my horse, Birdy foaled two weeks ago and she gave birth to the prettiest little pony in the world. And I think that you should name her." Vera told me while looking into my eyes.

"Me? You want me to name your horse?" I asked her in shock and she nodded at me. "You hated me yesterday."

"Yes, but see it as my way of humbling myself before you. I apologize for the way I've been acting." She said so I raised a single eyebrow at her.

"Apology accepted." I told her and she smiled at me. "I would love to name your horse." I kindly told her and she excitedly clapped her hands at my response.

"In that case you should meet her." She said in a lighthearted tone. Luciano's phone suddenly started ringing and he answered the call before getting up from the couch.

"Viktor-" Luciano started before he listened to what Viktor had to say. "What do you want me to do?" He asked before running a hand over his head.

"Alright, I'll see you in a bit." Luciano blankly said before he placed his phone back inside his pocket.

"Aurellio is here." Luciano blankly announced and I frowned lightly.

"I'm going to meet with my men outside and settle things with Aurellio. I won't be long but if Aurellio gets here before I do, don't hesitate to kill him." He told Vera who simply nodded at him. "Take them to the panic room." He added and she nodded before she went over to hug him.

"Maybe see if you can come to an agreement with him before you kill him." She told Luciano and he rubbed her back in a comforting manner before he nodded at her.

"I'll try but I doubt he'll listen to me."

That was Luciano's last words before he left the house. As much as I don't want to, I grow more curious about Aurellio's grudge everyday.

I can't help but wonder what they did to him.
