What drives a human? The Draans say it's their desire for peace and equality, other species of the Galactic Assembly like the Vrots say that humanity has none and just strives to do the best of what the rest of us do, exist, live and thrive. But I've now come to the conclusion, after decades of onslaught and war, that humans are driven by two factors: their greed for more and the determination that follows it. When they were introduced to the Assembly, most species laughed at how under developed the humans were, unaware that they used to be just like the homo sapiens, others took pity and welcomed the Earthlings with open arms, some didn't care at all. My species, the Scoll, belittled the new comers and attempted to abuse the human's oblivious nature for our own gain. Little did we know how vicious and aggressive these species of flesh and bone can get. Having looked over their history over and over, the only thing I see was war. War against nations. Wars of civilians against their own governments. Their own greed for their own satisfaction, powered by determination, lead to the dangerous and rule breaking nature that leads several of the Assembly's greatest minds to ponder for the reason why humanity commits genocide on itself as if it's normal. We Scoll never questioned their morals until the first dentation. Computer forums blew up with angry, violent people cursing at our race and swearing that we made a big mistake. Groups corrupted our government websites and restricted our species' access to human sites like a hive-mind. And when our world leader threatened them with war, the only thing they said back was a popular proverb from their Neolithic Modern Era: "Fuck around and find out". The resent towards our nation was clear in the voice of one of Humanity's major generals, who issued the response. Clearly angered by the fact that the pitiful Mantapid-looking civilization did not fear our military strength, our nations went to war against each other. The rest of the Assembly couldn't settle either side down, Humanity's greed now spoke of violence and blood, and their determination alone could've achieve that. I begged by father, one of our nation's head of state to withdraw our fleets, just in case Humanity was able to gain the upper hand. My father, whoever did not believe that Humans can win against the strength of our Scollite soldiers. And before he knew it, he was wrong. WE, were wrong. Humanity came in with a full frontal assault, using everything in their arsenal. Nuclear weapons, atomic shredders and black hole artillery were all used, destroying each and every of our planet states until our Origin was left. They spared it. But at the cost of ravaged resources, decimated buildings and the destruction of our culture as we known it for millennia. My father tried to go against three human soldier at once, only to be killed after he was mocked. They tore down our Coat of Galactic Arms, and replaced it with their own. I was laying on the ground, barely conscious, as one of them squatted in front of me and said:
"We warned you, and you didn't listen. We've could've done worse, only if the Uzkic Convention didn't exist."
And with that he stood up and left with his squadron. And as I tried to apologize on my people's behalf, I passed out.
