He just left like that? He was odd. I walked back down stairs confused and ready to go back home. I have no idea where Aliza went. I sighed walking out the door. It was pouring outside. Great. Not only was it raining but I rode with Aliza so my car is back at my dorm. I groaned, stepping into the rain. Although it was cold it felt so soothing. As I walked down the middle of the road I kept thinking about what Lukas said. He was right, I didn't know if the stories were real or myths but how could they be real?
I continued to walk into the rainy night with all these thoughts running around my brain. For some reason I felt like I was being followed. I stopped between two light posts, closing my eyes and lifting my face so the rain was hitting it. I took a deep breath and sat down in the middle of the road as the rain gladly surrounded me. I sat there in the rain contemplating what was real and what wasn't. How could I know?
'Open your eyes, look into the real world,'
His words played over and over in my head. His eyes though. His eyes were like a permanent picture in my brain that wouldn't go away. They were so dark, almost black but they also almost looked red. They were mesmerizing. His voice was so deep it was like every time he spoke his vocal cords played together like a bass. It was deep and soft at the same time. The way he carried himself was different as well. He walked like he was the only person that mattered. The way that he made Kyle sit and listen was oddly impressive.
As I sat in the rain the feeling of being watched still burned through me. "I can feel you starting," I said just above a whisper. The sound of footsteps splashing in the wet concert came from behind me. "You could get sick, you know," a male voice said. I let out a cold laugh, "I don't get sick," I said. It was true I've never been sick in my whole 18 years of living. It was weird but I was okay with it. I could feel the person's presence a little too close. "Can I help you?" I asked, finally opening my eyes looking ahead of me.
"Are you alone?" He asked, his voice was low. Too low for my liking. "What an odd question," I said, trying to be unfazed. I felt a hand rip me off the ground. I groaned but didn't move. He made me face him. His face was pale, and his eyes were hooded. "I asked a question," He spat. I chuckled, "I gave an answer whether you liked it or not is not my problem," I spat back. Seriously, Tokin? You say that, now!? His grip tightened and his eyes looked into mine. I was taken back by how red they were.
"Your blood smells so delicious, it's like a freshly baked cake, it's almost intoxicating," he says, pulling me closer. His face dipped into my face taking a deep breath. I gasped and pushed myself away from him. I almost lost my balance. "What are you some kind of weirdo? You seriously have to up your game, bud. That's not how to get a girl," I said, turning to walk away. He growled. Like literally growling. Before I knew it, I was pushed to the ground. He hovered above me, with his hands digging into my shoulders.
"So unfazed, is this how you would treat your dinner? You play with it? So naive," he said, moving my hair off my shoulder. I couldn't process what was happening. I could only think of something sarcastic and dumb to say. Maybe it'll stop him from whatever he planned to do. "Actually, I just eat it, why play with it? It would get cold," I said, squeezing my eyes shut. I felt his tongue lick my shoulder. "Ew, god, get off me, I'm going to throw up," I said squirming. Then something sharp poked my skin. Wait, no four small pokes. Is that...his teeth!?
Before he could bite any harder, he flew off me. I sat up really quick and saw a tall figure standing between me and the weirdo. I didn't take any time, I stood up and booked it at full speed back to my dorm. After a good ten minutes of running, I finally made it. I ran into my dorm slamming the door resting my head against it. I tried to steady my breathing as I processed what just happened. Was he right? Were supernatural beings coexisting with humans? I walked over to my desk and opened my laptop.
I opened skype and called my mother. It took a minute, but she answered. "Hello, love! How was your day?" she asked. I smiled at my mother. She was so sweet and kind. It made me wonder how she fell for my cold-hearted father. "Hello, mom. My day was rather interesting, if I'm being honest. How are you and dad?" I asked. I knew talking to her would calm my nerves. My father's face came into the screen, and he looked surprised. "Tokin, why are you all wet?" He asked. I sighed, "Can I ask you something?" I asked, curious to see what the answer would be. "Anything, love," My mother said. "I was having a... Conversation with a new uh person, and they said something that really got me thinking and then this thing happened, and I think they were right," I explained. Taking a deep breath, looking at my parents.
"Are supernatural myths real?" I asked them. My mother looked concerned looking at my dad and he just looked unfazed. "Tokin, that's what you're calling us at 3 a.m. for?" My father asked. He sounded angry. My mother whispered something to him then turned to the screen. "What happened, Tokin?" My mother asked. I've never seen her so serious. "I-, never mind, dad's right, I'm sorry for bothering you, I'm probably just thinking too much into it," I said, rubbing my neck. "Well, alright honey, don't forget to take your medicine okay," mom said. I smiled and said my goodnights. Thank God it's Friday.
The next morning, I woke up to Aliza yelling. "On everything in this room, shut it!" I yelled from my bed. I heard some giggles and chuckles. Something jumped on me. I groaned, moving the covers out of my face. Aliza happily laid on me, like a child. "Can I help you?" I asked, raising my brow. "You've been asleep all day, come out with us," she asked. I sighed, "where? And who's going?" I asked. "We're going to the mall, and the whole group," she said. I looked to my left to see Rashell, Kyle, Jenna, Marcus, and Lukas. Everything from yesterday came flooding back in from yesterday. I looked back at Aliza, and she had puppy eyes looking at me. "Fine," I said as we both sat up. A gasp came, "Tokin! What happened to your shoulder?" Jenna said, coming over to me.
I frowned my brow, getting up and going to Aliza's vanity. On my shoulder there was a large handprint like a bruise. The guy. Did he really grip me that hard? I touched it winching. "I don't know," I said. Aliza came over to me. "Who were you with last night? We couldn't find you after you went to Lukas's room." she asked. "No one, I just, I went home after," I said, keeping details to a minimum. "Can we go yet?" Kyle whined. "Sorry, Tokin, I just really want to go to Barnes and Noble," he said, with a small smile. I went to my closet as everyone had their own little conversations.
I grabbed a black biker skirt and a fitted black crop top that had 'Satan is beautiful' printed on it. I went into the bathroom and changed. I brushed my teeth, hair and did my makeup. I walked out and put my converse on. "Ready," I said as everyone got up. I grabbed my phone and a hoodie and left with them. "Hey, Tokin?" Kyle said, walking next to me. "Hey," I said, looking around. "I'm really sorry about last night at the party, I was drunk and upset, and I look it out on you," he said, with a small smile. I gave him one back, "It's okay, I get it, if you ever need to talk, I'm her for you," I said, as we all got into the car. "Hey actually I'll meet you guys there," I said, walking over to my bike.
"You sure? It just rained," Aliza said. I smiled giving a thumbs up. "I need to go for a ride," I chuckled. As they left, I put my helmet on and climbed on to my Kawasaki Ninja 650. I loved this bike. My parents got it for me when I turned 16. I got my music playing as I started my way to the mall. I ended up catching up to Aliza's slow driving. She rolled her window down and did her little hand motion. I smirked under my mask and revved my bike. She laughed holding a fist out. I gave her a fist bump as I sped up passing through cars. I loved the adrenaline that riding gave me. The wind was cold against me, but it felt so good. It made me feel alive.
After a good five minutes, I beat them to the mall. As I waited for them a sense of formality hit me. Someone was watching me. I got off my back and took my helmet off. I looked around but no one was there. A hand touched my shoulder and I flinched. "It's just me," Aliza said, with a concerned expression. "Everything okay?" she asked as we all walked into the mall. I nodded and gave her a small smile looking at her. I looked a little to the left to see Lukas' cold expression looking back at me. I swallowed the lump in my throat. He can be non-human. He just can't, right? It's impossible.
