I had to write this for school and why not share it?
-
It was a hot, sunny day when Carly boarded her school bus with her 11-year-old brother, Shawn. Carly didn't quite like the school bus, it was loud and crowded. And with the heat, it smelled a lot worse than usual. The only good thing about riding the bus was that Carly could sit with her best friend. Ven was a 14-year-old girl with shoulder-length black silky hair. Today she was wearing a blue and yellow sweater with black baggy jeans.
Carly herself was wearing a black T-shirt with a guitar on the front of the shirt. Carly also wore black sweatpants with a few bracelets, a watch, and silver hoop earrings. Carly was the type of person to wear the same thing every day, or something related to that. But today, she felt the random motivation to wear something decently nice.
Carly and Ven talked for a few minutes, before remaining in awkward silence. Carly didn't know why, but she felt as if she and Ven were drifting apart. Ven had recently been hanging out with other girls, and leaving Carly out of it. Carly removed the thought out of her head, she had a test today. If Carly's mood was down, then she wouldn't do as well on her test as she wanted.
After getting off the bus, Carly went to her classes. Time flew by and just like that, it was English. Carly ventured into English class, somehow catching a glimpse of Ven. They made eye contact, and it was awkward. Ven was talking to one of the girls that hated Carly, her name was Stephanie. Ven was about to start walking towards Carly hoping to explain, but Carly walked away. Not wanting to speak to Ven.
'Why in the world would Ven be talking to Stephanie? She knows that I hate her.' Carly thought as she sat down in her assigned seat. Next to her sat Max, they were decent friends. Max and Carly recently had been pairing up together whenever they had an English assignment. In Carly's thoughts, it was only because Ven was already partnered up with somebody else.
The class had started, Carly wasn't paying much attention, but she managed to make out the words 'project'. "So what are you going to do for your myth or wonder, whatever it's called," Max asked.
"Maybe skinwalkers. I really don't know." Carly answered with not much enthusiasm.
"Sounds cool. I think I'll do Big Foot or Narwhals"
"Narwhals are real, they aren't a myth." Carly corrected, with more rudeness than she intended. "Not in a rude way. I'm pretty sure they live in Canada or something." Carly continued hoping it sounded less rude now.
"Anyways, want to call after school and work on it together?" Max suggested.
"I can't, I'm pretty sure I have lacrosse practice." Carly lied, she didn't really want to work with anyone for this project. And lying is better than saying, 'No I don't want to work with you'. A few hours later Carly had arrived home with her brother Shawn.
"Do you want to play Pokemon with me? My friend gave me a few new cards." Shawn asked excitingly, what a bundle of joy.
Carly wasn't in the mood to talk. So instead of telling her brother those exact words, she shouted: "Leave me alone!" And stormed up to her room, slamming the door shut. Maybe it was Carly's hormones or something, but 20 seconds later she was the happiest person in the world, working on her English project.
As Carly worked on her English project on skinwalkers. She couldn't help but think. Why are skinwalkers so randomly cool and interesting, Carly thought as she studied more and more about them, curiosity taking control over her. It turns out that from her sources, skinwalkers could transform into animals and humans, mostly animals though. Carly took the worst idea and clicked on images. Turns out, skinwalkers are very creepy. 'Ew.' Carly thought. Carly also found some interesting things about Skinwalker's personality. They get bored of things easily, 'weird, it reminds me of Ven. I feel like she's getting bored of your friendship.'
"Honey! Your friend is here!" Carly's mom yelled from the kitchen. 'What friends?' Carly thought in the back of her mind. Carly then headed downstairs to her mom. Surprisingly Ven was in their kitchen, Carly didn't know they were still friends.
"Hey," Carly said coldly, not an inch of excitement in her voice.
"Um... Hey... Do you want to... umm speak outside." Ven asked Carly, she was nervous, 'Was this a love confession or something?'
"Sure I guess," Carly responded as she followed Ven outside.
Once they were outside Ven said, "So I wanted to tell you something." Ven walked up close to Carly, a little too close.
Ven then suddenly grabbed Carly's hand, "What is it?" Carly asked trying to get out of the grip. Ven's hand was starting to hurt her forearm. "Can you get off me?!" Carly asked with a rude tone in her voice.
"You have to stop studying skin walkers", Ven said with no expression on her face.
"Why would you care?! You basically ignore me all the time now. Do you honestly think we're still friends after you ghosted me?! And for who? Stephanie?!?!" Carly snapped, this whole event was weird, Carly felt as if something bad was going to happen.
It all happened in a few seconds, Carly was pinned to the ground, but it wasn't by Ven. Carly tried to turn her head, it was her mom?!
"What's happening?! Get off of me?! What are you doing?" Carly demanded answers, and from what it seemed like, she wouldn't get any.
"What should we do with her Kim? Kill her?" Carly's Mom asked Ven. 'What? Kill me? Who's Kim?'. Carly thought, she was really scared, she didn't want to die at age 14.
"Might as well." Ven agreed. The amount of betrayal and anger running through Carly's veins was unbearable. How could her own mom and a (so-called) friend want to kill her? What did she do?
"K," Mom said as she raised a hatchet above Carly's head. "Sorry it had to end this way." Mom(or Kim)said as she dropped the hatchet on Carly's head. 'Maybe they're skinwalkers', was Carly's last thought before it all went black.
Carly wasn't scared of death, she was more afraid of frogs, a 'weird fear' Ven used to say. Now the only thing Ven said was 'Kill her?' Carly was so stupid to become friends with a witch. And be the daughter of a killer. Carly hated it.
Before the hatchet hit Carly, she saw her father, Rody. He was behind Ven and Kim he was crying, a lot. It seemed as if he had nothing to do with this. Carly was happy about that. But it still hurt to see her father bawling his eyes out as he watched his daughter pass. I guess Carly didn't get her happy ending.
1184 words Yippie! Let's ignore the fact that there's a Dead Plate reference... :)
