"Uughhhh...I'll be out soon give me a second, Floch!"
You yelled to your dorm mate, who was waiting for you to finish getting ready.
You and Floch had been friends since high school. Your fathers were friends, so you two had known each other for years.
Floch was the arrogant type. He was hated by almost everyone back in high school, but he still managed to pull through, despite his shitty personality. He had a thing for rubbing people the wrong way with his blunt comments and dismissive attitude.
Yet, somehow, he never got his ass beat for it.
You often wondered how he did it, but you also knew better than to get too involved in his mess.
You learned to manage and not pay any attention to it; after all, it was other people he targeted, not you. Over time, you developed a kind of immunity to his behavior. You realized early on that trying to change him was futile, so you chose to coexist with him instead. Occasionally, you even found his audacity amusing, especially when he directed it at someone who deserved it.
But mostly, you just stayed out of his way and let him be.
As you finished getting ready, you checked yourself in the mirror one last time, satisfied with your appearance.
It was late afternoon and you were getting ready to go out and eat with Floch. You knew that he was waiting outside your room, impatient as ever.
You sighed and opened the door, revealing Floch standing there, looking as irritated as ever.
"What took you so damn long?" he grumbled, rolling his eyes.
You replied with a smirk, "Just wanted to make sure I looked perfect, you know." At that moment, his expression shifted from agitation to admiration.
Floch stared at you, his eyes traveling from your perfectly styled hair down to your stunning outfit. You wore a white mini skirt paired with black tights and a black cardigan, accessorized with a Blue Nile ruby and diamond necklace and a mini Cartier bag that he got you.
"Stunning," he murmured, reaching for your hand. "I take it back. You have all the right for taking all the time in the world."
A smile tugged at the corners of your lips, his compliment making you feel a little giddy. You squeezed his hand gently as you stepped out of the room together.
"Well, I'm glad you appreciate it," you teased, unable to hide the grin that spread across your face.
He playfully rolled his eyes, a smirk tugging at his lips as he led you towards the door."You know I always do, especially when you wear the necklace I gave you."
You walked alongside Floch, feeling his lingering gaze on you. You had suspected for a while that his affection for you was motivated more by lust than genuine feelings.
