But in that moment, with Floch's pounding growing louder and the threat looming closer, Eren knew he had to act.

-

Eren's breath caught in his throat as he heard a loud thud outside the house, followed by a furious scream.

Floch's voice, raw with rage, cut through the tension like a knife.

Eren's heart pounded as he quickly grabbed his gun, his fingers wrapping around the cold metal. Steeling himself, he moved cautiously toward the door. Every instinct screamed at him to be careful.

To stay alert.

With his gun raised, Eren slowly turned the doorknob and carefully pulled the door open.

The scene that greeted him made him pause, gun still poised but momentarily stunned.

Zeke had Floch pinned to the ground, one knee digging into his back and one hand twisting Floch's arm painfully behind him.

Floch's gun was already in Zeke's other hand, which he tossed aside out of reach. Zeke's expression was a mix of frustration and annoyance.

Floch struggled under Zeke's grip, his face contorted with anger and pain.

"Fuck you Jaeger. I curse the damn fucking day that you were born, Eren."

Zeke glanced up at Eren, his eyes dark but steady.

"Eren, are you okay?"

Eren nodded, lowering his gun slightly but not taking his eyes off Floch. "What the hell are you doing Zeke?!"

"Stopping an idiot from doing something he'll regret," Zeke replied tersely.

Zeke tightened his grip on Floch, his frustration evident. "And also stopping YOU from doing something you'll regret."

Eren's eyes darkened as he stepped closer, his gaze fixed on Floch's.

"I wouldn't regret jack shit, Zeke."

he said, his voice low and cold. His words were aimed like a dagger straight into Floch's soul.

Floch's eyes widened, a flicker of fear breaking through his anger. He could see the darkness in Eren's stare, a darkness that promised violence.

But

Deep down, Eren felt a sense of shame in his gut. He knew this wasn't the path he wanted to tread again.

Zeke noticed the shift in Eren's expression, the way his brother's eyes held more than just anger—there was a haunted depth, a struggle between past and present.
