Hiring an intern, was out of the question.Todoroki Shoto wasn't one that needed an intern, or sidekick, to help him keep up with his schedule— he found that doing small tasks like keeping up with all his book work built character, he wasn't going to be like his father that depended on a little intern to keep up with his life.
However— he found himself next to a girl two years younger than him holding up a thick [f/c] coat that could combat any icy weather condition.
"What about this?" The [h/c] haired girl asks him, giving him a bright smile as she held it up to her small frame, the coat was definitely large for her, and he was interested to see how silly she looked with it on.
Yet that wasn't the point of them meeting up.
He gently moves it from his face where she shoved it upward for him to take a closer look at the fabric.
"[y/n]," he deadpanned, the young girl was acting like this was some vacation they were going on, not a mission where lives would be at stake.
"Yes?" She asks, shoving the coat in her almost full suit case.
"This isn't a time to play around, this mission is dangerous, the only reason you're coming is because we need your quirk, otherwise I would have you stay in Japan," Todoroki says, looking at her walk around her apartment collecting things to throw in her suit case.
They had been employer and employee for a couple of months now, and the girl embraced him as a close friend pretty quickly, she wasn't at all awkward around him and even was brutally honest at times about how she needs a pay raise for keeping up with his 'daddy issues,' as she so liked to call it.
"I know I know, but I never get to go on business trips, this is my first time traveling—" She threw a couple of clothes that were on hangers into his arms, not afraid to put her boss to work since neither of them were on the clock, "And my quirk, water adaption— I don't exactly see how that's going to be of use for the mission," she tells him honestly.
"... you didn't read the email I sent you?" He asks, blinking slowly at her.
Why did he hire her again?
"Hey, you sent that after 8PM, and I clock out at 6PM, so excuse me for not looking," she sticks her tongue out at him, making him want to freeze it with his quirk, but he refrains himself.
"We need your water adaption to help with a new oil rig, in the arctic circle, the oil rig has been funded by pro-hero Deku, it's to help a small formation of island with their natural gas reserves, however there's a group of villains that see to overtake the oil rig to fund their own pockets, and take control of the islands," He explained, placing down the clothes on her couch, accidentally making eye contact with a pair of panties that fell out of her suit case, making him turn red and look away in discomfort.
"I see, and what does my water adaption gotta do with an oil rig?" She asks with a huff, trying to zip her suit case.
Feeling a bit irritated, he walked over and helped her zip it up, pressing his strong arm down on the top, and zipping it up with his free hand.
"You will help with the underwater crew make contact with the seabed," He answered.
"Wait, so you expect me," She places a hand on her chest, "To go skinny dipping into BELOW FREEZING waters?" She drawls out, making the heterochromatic man flinch at her choice of words.
She wasn't one that had a problem expressing her opinion.
"No, I expect you to swim in the arctic with licensed divers and welders, while wearing thermal suits that'll keep you warm," He says back, trying to comeback her comment, but not matter how he could put it she was going to be swimming in below freezing waters.
