Sade sat in the passenger seat of the Dodge Charger, twiddling her thumbs while staring out the window. She felt a nervous flutter in her stomach, but she couldn't pinpoint why. The familiar beats of "One Helluva Night" by Future pulsed through the car's speakers, and she tried to let the music calm her, nodding along with the rhythm.

"Hm, reply to that for me," Judah said, breaking the silence. Sade glanced over to see him handing her his phone. A little hesitant, she took it, her eyes scanning the screen to see a message from Jay.

"Just tell him to leave it in the little bush by the door. I won't be home for another hour or so," Judah instructed, his eyes still on the road. Sade typed out the message, feeling slightly uneasy as she pressed send. She didn't know what the text was really about, but it wasn't her place to ask.

Sade locked his phone and set it down on the armrest between them. She stole a glance at Judah, twisting her lips as she did. Being around him felt strange, almost unsettling. They didn't talk much outside of when they were with Saint, her cousin. Sade wasn't sure what to make of Judah. He was a mystery to her. Quiet, intense, and always seemed like he was carrying some weight that no one else could see.

As they drove, the silence between them grew thicker. Sade's thoughts wandered back to the tattoo parlor earlier, thinking about how different Judah seemed compared to the rest of Saint's crew. She wondered what he was really like beneath the surface, beyond the tough exterior and the casual demeanor. Maybe it was the way he kept everything close to the chest, or maybe it was the fact that he never really looked at her directly.

She shook her head, pushing the thoughts aside. It wasn't her business. She didn't need to get caught up in whatever Judah had going on. But still, there was something about him that made her curious. Something that made her want to know more, even if she knew she probably shouldn't.

They pulled up to a small diner off a quiet street. Judah parked and turned off the engine. "You hungry?" he asked, breaking the silence.

Sade nodded, relieved at the change in atmosphere. "Yeah, I could eat."

They walked into the diner, a cozy spot with dim lighting and an old-school vibe. They sat in a booth by the window. The waitress, an older woman with a kind smile, came over to take their order.

"I'll have the bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a sprite," Judah said, handing her the menu.

Sade scanned the options quickly. "I'll just have the chicken sandwich with a side of fries, please."

As the waitress walked away, Judah leaned back in his seat, his eyes studying Sade. "You don't talk much, do you?"

She shrugged, playing with the napkin in front of her. "I just don't have much to say."

"Or maybe you just don't have much to say to me?" he teased, a smirk playing on his lips.

Sade looked up, meeting his gaze. "I don't know you like that."

Judah nodded, still smirking. "Fair enough. But we're family, right? At least by association."

"Yeah, I guess." Sade wasn't sure where this conversation was going, but she felt a bit more at ease.

The food arrived, and they ate in comfortable silence, the occasional sound of cutlery and muffled conversation filling the air. Sade noticed that Judah was a bit more relaxed than she had expected. He wasn't the cold, detached guy she had assumed. There was something else there, something that intrigued her.

After they finished eating, Judah paid the bill, and they headed back to the car. The night air was cool, and Sade pulled her sweater tighter around her.

"Ready to head back?" Judah asked as they got in the car.

"Yeah, let's go."

When they got back to the car she leaned back in her seat trying to relax, but her mind kept drifting to Judah. There was something about this night, about him, that felt different. And for some reason, Sade had a feeling that whatever was happening, it was just the beginning.
