Amber Claire is, or rather, was my friend when we were younger, and her being here is bad news to Emerald High. Our parents loved it when we were together, not dating, of course. They said we were bound to fall in love as we got older. Spoilers, that didn't happen. She has a younger brother only by a couple of minutes, but this isn't about him. I. only ever liked her as a friend.

"I have a couple of announcements." Mr.H proceeded to say, snapping me out of my thoughts, "Since you guys are now seniors, you can now partake in senior pranks and the prank war against Silver Oaks High."

Everyone began to cheer."Of course, we have some rules. You are not allowed to injure the person or anyone for that matter. There should be no damage to the property. This will be done during the summer, and if one of us finds out, one did it beforehand, you won't participate." Everyone wanted to join in on it.

The classes went by fairly quickly. The first two periods were ELA, my favorite subject, then three and four were math, and now it was lunch time. I packed up my stuff before Amber could get a chance to talk to me.

"Marcus!" I turned my head into the direction that my name was called, just to see Kai swinging his arms like a mad man. I sprinted towards him.

"Don't do that." I hissed at him.

"Why? Why not? Hmm?" He got closer to me, even though he's my best friend, he will always get into my personal space, "Soo?"

"Nothing. Let's just... Let's go put our bags in the lockers." We did just that. After placing our bags where they belong, we went to the cafeteria. Today's lunch was spaghetti with meatballs. As much as I hate school lunch, I stay even when I can head out. Only because he can't.

Kai's parents don't allow him to go out because he used to get in a lot of street fights whenever he did. Kai is popular, but he perfers to stay with me because 'I'm better than them and I'm real.' Like what the fuck is that supposed to mean?

"So, how was the first half of school, Marc?." Kai asked me.

"It was good, I guess." I answered him while taking a bite of my ham and cheese sandwich.

"Really?" He raised an eyebrow. I just nodded, "You know, I can make it better." He purred.

"Ha, as if." I scoffed.

"Yea, I can." His face got closer to mine. I keep the same blank expression I always have, "We can-" He got cut off, but by then, I was intrigued by what he had to say.

"Marcus!" I saw Lexi and Amber walking towards us. Kai was a bit pissed that he was cut off. He probably had something good in mind. As they got closer, Amber asked if they could sit with us, we, well, I said they could.

"Hey, Marcus. We were wondering if you could help us a bit with math since you seemed to understand it." Amber questioned. Kai looked at me, then back at them.

"You never told me you know pretty ladies like 'em." Kai said loud enough for them to hear. I know that his happy tone was forced because he was mad when they cut him off while talking to me. I turned to look at him and smiled. He looked at me and then smiled back.

I've always liked seeing him smile like that. I soon looked away as I felt my heart speed up, "Urm.. S-sure. I don't mind when." Holy shit. What is up with me? I have never felt this way around anyone, so why now?

"How about today after school?" Lexi questioned. I thought about it, and I almost said no because I wanted to hang out with Kai.

"You can go ahead, Marcs. I have to catch up on my work if I want to pass this marking period." He gave me another smile, but this time it was softer. And there it is again, my heart is speeding up. That smile quite literally made me choke on my food.

Kai was quick to give me water, "Sorry, but you doing work?" Damn, I made up that lie. All on my own.

"Tch, I mean, yeah, why not? I got nothing better to do." Sureee, as if I believe that. He's jealous, and I'll talk to him later about it.

"Sure, we can practice this afternoon." For the rest of the lunch time, we talked to each other until the. bell rang.

The girls went ahead to their next class while I stayed behind with Kai. He was walking me to my next class, " Are you really okay with this? You could get in trouble for going in late."

"It's fine, I promise. I don't mind, especially since it's with you." Kai smiled at me. Oh fuck you. He keeps smiling at me, and it always makes me feel weird.

"Well, we're here, so you can leave now. Don't get into trouble, alright?" My expression softened. I gave him a soft, simple smile. Though, I'm bad at it.

He looks at me with a blank expression. Was my smile that bad? His smile was even wider now, "J-just for you, My Love." I pushed him away.

"Don't call me those corny names. They cringe me out." I said that, yes, but this time when he said it, it felt weird. It was different.
