The next day, Percy waited for William in his locker to give him a surprise. He was preparing himself to confess to William and make him his boyfriend. He waited and waited. William never appeared.

Percy saw Wanda in a nearby hall and approached her.

-Wanda! -Percy called.

Wanda turned around, her expression a mix of surprise and concern as she saw Percy approaching.

-Percy, hey... -she said, her voice trailing off. She glanced around nervously, clearly anxious.

-Where's William? -Percy asked, trying to keep his tone light, but unable to hide the worry in his eyes. -I've been waiting for him.

Wanda bit her lip, looking away for a moment before meeting Percy's gaze.

-He... he didn't come to school today. He's at home, not feeling well.

Percy's face fell.

-Is he okay? Did something happen?

Wanda hesitated, then sighed.

-He found out about... us. I told him everything. He was really upset, Percy. He thinks he's the reason we didn't work out, and he feels guilty about it. And... I think he's a bit mad at you too.

Percy ran a hand through his hair, frustration, and worry etched on his face.

-This is all my fault. I should have been honest from the start. I need to talk to him, Wanda.

Wanda nodded, her expression softening.

-I'd help you, Percy, but right now... I can't. I'm sorry.

Percy sighed.

-It's okay. But... do you know when is he going to come back?

-He didn't. But I saw on his computer a web page to arrive at London as exchange students... I saw him sign up for that.

Percy's heart sank at Wanda's words.

-London? But... that's so far.

Wanda nodded, her expression filled with regret.

-I know. He's running away, Percy. He thinks it's the only way to make things right.

Percy ran a hand through his hair, trying to process everything.

-Do you know when he's leaving?

-I'm not sure. I just saw the application on his computer last night. You might still have time to talk to him before he leaves.

Percy's mind raced with possibilities. He couldn't let William leave without explaining everything, without trying to make things right.

-Thank you, Wanda. I'll figure something out.

Wanda gave him a small, sad smile.

-I hope you can, Percy. I really do.

Percy left Wanda, determination fueling his steps as he headed William's home. He needed to talk to William, to tell him the truth, and to convince him to stay. He grabbed his phone and called William, but there was no answer. Desperation clawed at him as he left a voicemail.

-William, it's Percy. I'm going to your house. We need to talk. I need to explain everything. Please, call me back.

As he stood in front of William's door, he took a deep breath and knocked, hoping against hope that William would answer.
