"I love you."

The Jerk finally said it. But if you ask me, Mia doesn't deserve the wait she endured. I felt proud though, for helping him set this all up. I know Mia will thank me-

"You can't say that!" She cried, tears freely flowing in her eyes. "You can't say that now, Finn. Not after four freakin' years!"

She looked really pissed. I don't understand. I thought she'll finally be happy.

She continued, her lower lips trembling, "You can't just come barging back into my life after I finally let you go... For four years, Finn."

She shook her head as a pained sneer made it's way to her lips. "Do you know the saying 'It's better late than never'?"

Obviously that was a rhetorical question because I'm afraid if you answer, she'll snap your neck apart.

"Well they're wrong! I wish you never have shown your face to me again! I wish you never said that and make me start all-over again on this sick, emotional roller coaster ride."

Her voice dropped into a whisper, barely audible. "I won't ride on it again, Finn. I-I've had enough."

She stormed out and I almost ran after her. But my eyes drifted back to the table where it was met with grey orbs filled with remorse. It only says one thing,

"I'm too late..."

~ 1 YEAR AFTER ~

MILES' POV

"Honey, do you know where the remote is?" I hollered as I fiddle with the edges of the sofa, trying to feel any long, rectangular remote.

"I left it somewhere in the TV rack!" Came a shrill reply from the kitchen.

I felt something smooth and solid under a pillow. I grab it and fortunately, it's the remote.

"Never mind! I found it."

Sprawling myself comfortable on the new Italian black-leather sofa I just bought, I prepared myself for an eight-hour, non-stop movie marathon on my 150" plasma TV.

I finally get to file a one-day leave of absence on my duties at managing The Royal Hotel and take a break from my stressful work. Being an heir to a multi-national industry was hard-work! I know that if I didn't get away from all those papers and those plain white boring walls of my office, I would explode. Literally.

As I eagerly pressed the play button, the doorbell rang.

"Honey, can you please get the door?"

Quietly, I groaned and paused the movie.

Will they seriously ever give me a break?

The doorbell rang once more.

"Hold on, I'm coming!"

I pull up my pants as I trudge my way up to the door. Can't let anyone see the Miles Royal in boxer shorts, can I?

When I opened the door, my breath hitched up my throat as I saw Mia's state before me. Her face was red and puffy from crying. It's obvious that it's been a struggle to fix up her hair in a ponytail. And though she is smiling, I can see the broken Mia through those eyes.

It's been months since the last time we talked, and as far as I can remember, she was okay back then. She even flash her dashing smile when I crack my awesome and hilarious jokes.
