"I'm not really built for this weather,"said the man as he shivered
"Oh. Are you looking for some books?"questioned Linda
"Books? No," he chuckled,"No. I have come six thousand miles looking for him."
Blu lets out a sound of confusion, followed by Dew's head tilt.
"Doctor of ornithology?"inquired Linda as she read his business card
"Ooh. He's magnificent,"marveled the doctor as he started imitating birdcalls which confused Blu.
"Linda, little help here. Linda?"requested Blu, to which appeared as though he was responding to the call.
"Wow. You're actually communicating,"said Linda impressed,to which Dew stared in disbelief at the human.
"Yes. Yes. I introduced myself and shook my tail feathers counter-clockwise, thus differing to his dominance."
" I did not get that at all,"said Blu
"Ooh, she's wonderful, are they perhaps mated?"said the doctor as he inspected the female spix by spreading her wings and opening her beak.
"What!ohnonono..."denied Linda,"they're siblings! They're brother and sister"
"Well that's a relief,"said the doctor as he set the spix down next to Blu.
"So, Dr. Monteiro, you..."
" Oh, no 'Doctor' please. Just call me Tulio. You know, your male macaw is a very special bird. In fact, as far as we know, Blu is the last male of his kind."
"Really?Well, what about the female?"questioned Linda as she allowed the male spix to climb her arm.
"Ah,Yes, recently we found another female, and our hope is to bring the two of them together to save their species!"
Blu gulped from Linda's arm
"Oh. Well, yeah, sure. When can she come over?"
"Oh, no, no, no. She is in Brazil. Blu must come to Rio de Janeiro."
" Rio? Brazil?"laughed Linda as Blu went towards the globe to search for the country. The female spix reassumed her position on the stack of books.
"Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I never let Blu and Dew out of my sight. They need me!"exclaimed Linda as she went to arrange a few books on the shelf.
"Oh, no. You... you misunderstood. It's all arranged. You will be with him every stop of the way. And I will be with you."
The startled woman dropped the books as she faced him once again.
"Um, look, I know you're doing your job, but I can't... Well, Blu is very particular, and we three have our little routine here, and we're not big on travel. Heck, he doesn't fly."
"But, of course, he can fly,He's a perfect specimen,"said the doctor as he inspected the male.
"Uh, what are you doing?"questioned Linda
" Don't worry. Their natural instincts always take over."
"Wait! Wait, wait! No! No!"protested Linda
He let the male go to which he ultimately fell squawking to the ground.
"Well, almost always,"said Tulio,"Hmm...what about her?"he questioned as he faced the female spix
If she didn't fly before, she would now just to escape the doctor.
"Blu!"linda exclaimed in worry
"What kind of doctor are you?"grunted Blu
"Are you okay?"cooed the woman scooping the bird.
" Perhaps he's too domesticated,"pondered the doctor
"It was very nice of you to stop in and squawk around and throw my bird, but now it's time for you to go,"stated Linda while handing him his business card back
"Well, I... I'm very sorry. I... I'm very sorry, but... wait, wait. Linda. Linda,"he apologized while being pushed out of the door by Linda,"This could be our last chance."
"Have a safe flight,"she sighed as she shut her shop door in his face and walked away.
"Linda, please, listen to me. If we don't do this, his whole species will be gone"
Tulio then throws his business card through her shop door post flap
"Just think about it,"requested the doctor while peeking through the post flap.
