The next day. Early in the morning. William entered the class looking at his phone.

Percy saw William as he entered and his heart skipped a beat. He wanted to run to him and apologize for everything he said the other day about his trip. But he couldn't, he was too foolish.

Percy watched William from across the room, his heart aching with regret. He wished he could take back everything he said, but the words hung between them like an unbridgeable chasm.

As William walked past without looking up from his phone, Percy mustered his courage and stood up. He couldn't let things end like this.

He took a deep breath and walked over to William's desk.

-William... -Percy started, his voice trembling slightly -Can we talk? Please?

William looked up from his phone, his expression unreadable. He glanced around the classroom before meeting Percy's eyes.

-I don't think there's anything left to say, Percy.

-Please, hear me out -Percy pleaded -I know I messed up and said things I shouldn't have. But I can't let you leave thinking that I don't care. I do, William. More than anything.

William sighed, setting his phone down.

-Fine. You have two minutes. Make it count.

Percy was about to speak when suddenly the art teacher entered the room.

-Good morning, my creative minds. Grab your stuff, we are heading to the art classroom.

William glanced at Percy.

-Times up.

-What? Wait! I didn't even say anything...!

As the students started to gather their belongings, Percy felt panic rise in his chest. He couldn't let this moment slip away.

-Please, William, just give me another chance to explain -Percy said desperately, his voice urgent.

William looked at him for a moment, then sighed.

-After class, Percy. Maybe -he said, grabbing his bag and heading towards the door.

Percy felt a small glimmer of hope. It wasn't much, but it was something. He followed the rest of the class to the art room, his mind racing with thoughts of what he would say to William.

As they settled into the art classroom, the teacher began explaining the day's project, but Percy's mind was elsewhere. He glanced over at William, who was focused on the instructions, seemingly unaffected by their earlier conversation.

Percy knew he had to make the most of their next chance to talk. He just hoped it wouldn't be too late.

Recess time was coming. The bell rang and everyone got out of the classroom like animals that had seen the first water drop in ages.

Percy looked for William at recess. But he couldn't find him anywhere.

Desperation clawed at Percy as he searched the crowded hallways and the bustling cafeteria. William was nowhere to be found. Percy checked their usual spots, the library, the courtyard, even the quiet corners of the school where they had often talked. Still, no sign of him.

Percy's heart sank. He knew he had to find William, to make things right. Finally, he decided to check outside near the back of the school, where a small, secluded garden offered a quiet retreat.
