"The what of who?" Lydia asked completely disinterested. Allison was explaining some story that my mom told her to look up for her History assignment, it apparently had significance to our family. Yet again something I'd never been told.

"The beast of Gevaudan- listen," She informed her yet again reading from a book. "A quadruped wolf-like monster, prowling the Auvergne and south Dordogne areas of France during the year 1764 to 1767. La Bête killed over a hundred people, becoming so infamous that the King Louis XV sent one of his best hunters to try kill it." Allison explained.

I was intrigued, but only because it actually apparently meant something to me. Our family did originate in France.

"Boring." Lydia replied with a sigh checking her nails.

"So like a werewolf? And this has something to with our family... how? I'm lost." I asked confused.

"I'll get to that wait there-" then she began to read again, "Even the church eventually declared the monster a messenger of satan."

"So is it a demon or a wolf? Still confused."

"Still boring." Sighed Lydia again completely uninterested. Allison rolled her eyes and began reading again.

"Cryptozoologists believe it may have been a subspecies of hoofed predator, possibly a mesonychild."

"Slipping-into-a-coma bored." She scoffed rolling her eyes, me doing it in response. I don't actually know if I like her.

"While others believe it was a powerful sorcerer who could shape shift into a man-eating monster."

"I'm still wondering what this has to do with our family-" I butted in once she finished her next sentence.

"Yeah, does any of this actually have anything to do with your family?" Lydia asked tiredly.

Allison nodded, "This... 'It is believed that La Bête was finally trapped and killed by a renowned hunter who claimed his wife and four children were the first to fall prey to the creature.' His name was Argent." She said smugly as though it was a big ground shaker.

"Your ancestors killed a big wolf. So what?" Said an unimpressed Lydia.

"Wait is that it? The monster?" I said looking at the page shocked, it was in fact a really big wolf. Almost human like someone would say. "Look." I say prodding Lydia. When she looked at the page her face was frozen, she looked like she was looking through the book. Completely spaced out.

"Lydia?" Allison mumbled concerned, trying to grasp her back to reality. "Lydia..." still no response.

"Hey! Lydia!" I lightly shook her arm and she looked at me quickly snapping out from whatever daze she was in.

"It looks like... a big wolf." She said snarkily and stood up. "See you in history." She chirped and strutted away.

Me and Allison shared a glance. "Well that wasn't weird at all." I scoffed looking at her. Allison stared at the door Lydia just walked out off and hummed, agreeing with me.

"Okay so he hid behind a book and ran away from you- is it just me or is everyone being weird today." I couldn't lie since being in Beacon Hills everyone had a little strangeness added to them. Allison was upset, she figured Scott was ignoring her due to her age. Allison had no choice but to tell Scott since he saw the balloons Lydia had planted into her locker, that girl did her revision.

"I just don't get it..." Allison pouted as we trapped through the halls. I bit the inside of my cheek, I didn't really know how to respond. I wasn't the best at relationship advice, partly because I'd never been in one and also because I'm just an awkward person when it comes to other people's problems altogether. I don't mean to be, I just get brain fog and say worse than good.
