Jungkook stepped through his front door, closing it behind himself, followed by locking it. He'd just begun slipping his shoes off when Taehyung came whipping down the hallway.

"How did it go? Did you guys talk?"

"Can I get in the door first?"

Taehyung rolled his eyes as he plopped down onto the arm of the couch waiting for Jungkook to join him.

Jungkook could see Taehyung impatiently tapping his foot against the front of the couch, his heel thudding audibly when it met its surface.

"You know." Jungkook sat heavily on the loveseat. "For someone who told me to stay away from Jimin. I'm surprised you are so keen on pushing me towards him now."

"Don't be an ass." Taehyung tsked as he slid off the arm of the couch onto the seat cushion. "Don't think that just because I am being supportive that I'm not still pissed about the way you treated Jimin."

"I know." Jungkook frowned. "I guess I'm just still surprised that you are okay with the idea of me and him after everything that happened."

"Kook, like I told you when the two of us talked the other day, I know what kind of person you are capable of being, the person you were before your relationship changed you into someone that you aren't. I know that this whole asshole persona that you have adopted came from a place of hurt. That you use it to protect yourself. But isn't it tiring? Aren't you tired of always having a wall up around yourself? Keeping those around you at arm's length to avoid getting hurt? Being someone you really aren't?"

It was tiring. It was something that Jungkook had become accustomed to though since his previous relationship deteriorated. It was easier. It wasn't right but it was easier and Jungkook liked it easier. At least he had. All that had changed when he started sleeping with Jimin. Jungkook found that the wall that Taehyung mentioned started to lose its solidarity. But he had been damaged by the betrayal he'd experienced at the hands of his ex, Jisoo. It was a betrayal that he had never even seen coming, him thinking that everything was perfectly fine in their relationship when it clearly wasn't.

"Jungkook. Jimin isn't Jisoo." Taehyung reassured Jungkook seeing the look in Jungkook's eyes. "He won't do to you what she did. He's not that type of person."

"I didn't think she was either." Jungkook responded with an edge of bitterness to his words.

Taehyung sighed, "listen, you can either let your past relationship with Jisoo define every single relationship that comes after it or you can let it define that one relationship. I think that is something you need to work through before you pursue anything with anyone, least of all Jimin."

Jungkook ran his hand down his face with a sigh, "I know that okay. But it is easier said than done."

"I know that Jungkook. I know it'll take time." Taehyung offered a supportive pat on Jungkook's knee. "But there is nothing wrong with letting someone in as you take that time."

Jungkook nodded his head, "I'm trying to. I want to. It's the least Jimin deserves after everything."

"Jungkook, you deserve to be happy too. Not just Jimin."

Jungkook hummed his acknowledgement but said nothing more. Taehyung could see that Jungkook was through with this route of conversation, so Taehyung brought it back to his original question, repeating it.

"How did your talk with Jimin go? I mean, I assume with how long you were gone you guys talked."

"We did. It went well, better than I had hoped but I also feel like total shit because I really hurt him. He's agreed to at least give me a second chance."
