It is told that a long time ago, the Goddess created the shifters. Her children, able to shift into powerful beings. Wolves as tall as men and as fast as the wind. They lived in packs lead by the strongest of them. But the shifters grew sad and lonely, stuck in a life of constant brutality and survival. Seeing her children so in pain, the Goddess gave them soulmates. A partner for life for them to hunt and once captured, cherish and love unconditionally. The bound between soulmates is a scarred thing, therefore the Goddess connected the two souls. If one was feeling hurt, its half would know and seek to make it better, if one was sad, the other would make the sorrow fade. If one would come to die, the other would want to die to join its other half.
One of her child, the young leader of a small pack, had the ambition to make his pack stronger. Therefore, when he found his mate who has 19 years old, he chased her in is wolf form and killed her a night of full moon. So that he did not have to feel any sadness, get hurt or feel sorry for the death of his half.
The Goddess, came to a visions wrath, to punish the children. She separated the men from the wolves and every full moon the wolves came to fall into sleep for 3 nights and 2 days, living the men to survive on their own.
And to find their soulmates, the men had to wait 228 full moons from birth to be able to recognize their half. As it was the age of the Alpha's mate.
And lastly, any man and wolf who roam alone, shall go mad and kill one another. So that no selfish ambition would ever bring the death of an innocent soul.
