Out of Merits!

Prologue

The sky seemed dimmer, somewhat gloomy compared to the last few years and the heavenly officials are at loss for their own thoughts. They all seemed like they were trying to look around and track down someone. Someone suspicious.

One couldn't help but question themselves as to why everyone seems to be panicking as mistakes keep happening. Some heavenly officials' would trip, fall, lose a penny, crumple official papers, and usually be in a foul mood.

The set of Gods had shifted and had no knowledge of the reincarnation. The old ones mostly stepped down and the new ones are clueless.

Every year of the dragon, just like the year that girl was born, she would be reincarnated again. They need to get rid of her to not pass the curse in the heavens.

What a good-for-nothing Goddess!

In the heavens, there are many designated Gods and Goddess for everything and all were born either from ascending or natural-born god. Their roles were manifestations of what the humans view them or what they are good at most.

Humans give incense and sacrifices which are the ones that the heavens used as assets or merits. Where one with millions of merits is equal to a person who's middle-class.

It has been known that there is a core memory worth watching back more than 6 centuries ago.

Memorable as it seems, it was also the befallen misfortune that was cursed at the heavens. The heavenly emperor that time was at loss for what he had done and so the only one with cursed blood was the solution.

Heavens drowned in chaos for half a century before coming to a conclusion that balanced heaven and earth again.

Firstly, it happened after the birth of a certain heavenly Goddess that the Heavenly Emperor agreed upon. What a bad choice! they all thought.

It was said that the Former Emperor that time befriended the Demon King and made a deal. Who knows what i was but it resulted in creating a child together. This girl was born but never left the palace for decades when she stepped foot outside. They said that the misfortune had begun.

Secondly, the Goddess had a certain spiritual trail that misfortune seems to follow her. Where her merits could never pass a hundred or more, much less a thousand that a human beggar is richer than her. They assumed it was due to her blood being half demonic.

She's rarely mentioned that no one could even call out her name.

Lastly, all of the misfortune had seemed to catch up to the heavens itself. The Gods and Goddesses decided to banish her which lessened the disaster at the heavens'.

As she was a natural born God, it was natural that she would ascend back again after some time of reaching enlightenment or being conscious.

In the end, hatred and resentment grew towards the innocent child.

There was a time that one of the martial Gods stepped in front, drew out his sword with all of his might and chopped her off in front of the heavens assembly hall. He was furious as to how such a girl acted innocent when his palace had half-crumbled down when she ascended. Such a rude Goddess!

The main thing is that this haunt and kill became a tradition passed down to the future emperors of the heavens. Even if the old or former officials step down, the new set of Gods must continue the tradition led by the emperor.

Time flew by and the chaos had declined with the Goddess out of the picture.It had become the heavens tradition to kill her in every reincarnation as much as possible. She had the same appearance in any reincarnations that made the game of tug quite effortless.
