"I don't understand how you could possibly stand staying home without your husband!" I tell cassey with the most perplexed look I could muster. She sighs rubbing her temple "Look I'm not telling you to be happy about it or anything but, come on that's the perks of having a millionaire husband!" she pauses."Tell him to get you a new diamond encrusted gold wrist band or something".
I look at my best friend wondering how she ever coped in her last five marriages. Meet my best friend Cassey, we've been besties ever since middle school, sometimes I think she marries men for their money, because they always range from CEOs, executive managers, mayors, deputy governors to her current husband the ambassador of Nairobi.
"What about the kids?" I ask while I take a short sip from the drink infront of me (green tea with minced lemon my favourite.) "What about the kids? Just get them a new ipad give them a couple of thousands and they'll be fine!" She says waving her hand about.
I try considering this for a moment then I remember myself when mum and dad would usually buy me presents, throw me parties and give me money through out my life in my parents house. I hated being neglected by my parents I could never dare do that to my own children.
Just when I was about to protest against her opinion a waiter interrupts me. On rare occasions when Cassey is actually back in London we go to the country club down by Manchester to catch up on new rumors.
"This is from the gentle man over there" he points towards a tall olive skinned man with thick, silky black hair that looks tousled over to the back of his head. His masculinity catches me captive, not just his body but those eyes.....They look awfully familiar. The crystal turquoise eyes that tell you he knows what he's doing and then it struck me.......it's him! It's Ken!
"Um thanks, but no thanks " I say pushing the tray of really old scotch back to him, I could guess the scotch should be about twelve years old which I happen to fancy because of its rich and expensive taste. The waiter looks at me like I've gone mad, I look towards Cassey only to see her staring at Ken with a bedazzled look, I roll my eyes at her.
"Why did you do that?"Cassey asks me incredulously "it's not everyday you get expensive wine from an expensive looking hot man." I look at my friend as though she had gone mad, can she not see that it's Ken?
"Um. Excuse me?" We look up to see the same waiter with the wine again.
"How may we help you?" I ask confused that he was back again.
"Um. He said he won't take no for an answer, miss" I look towards Ken again this time he was looking at me as though daring me to reject it.
"Sorry, like I said before. No thank you" I say.
"Please miss just reconsider" he looks at me with pleading eyes.
"Why are you so insistent on me taking it?" He looks over his shoulder.
"Miss please, my job is on the line", he looks so scared. When his words register into my mind anger fills me, just typical of Ken to threaten people to get his way. I guess somethings never change.
"Excuse me" I stand up walking towards Ken's direction. Ken immediately glances at me, when I saw his eyes closer this time I felt transported. He stands up extending his hands towards me, with a charming smile across his face.
"It's a pleasure to see you again Lina", crap. His voice it's so deep and smooth like thunder on a sunny morning. His voice had so much authority, like he lived his life making orders and never having to follow them. And he had a faint Spanish accent to his original British one.
"I wish I could say the same to you, Ken". His smile turns into an arrogant smirk, as though he was expecting me to say exactly that! The nerve! "Take a sit" he gestures towards the sit in front of him.
I take my sit, making sure to show him I wasn't going to be intimidated by seeing him again."You know, if you wanted to talk to me you could've just walked up to me and asked me to " I pause, wearing a thoughtful look on my face." Unless you're a coward".
That seemed to piss him off, because he clenched his fist so tight that his olive skin was practically the same colour as paper. The only way to get to Ken's head is to break his pride, and just when I was about to bask in my glory,he smirked.
"Who said I wanted to talk to you? I just wanted to treat a long time friend to a drink", something about the way he said friend scared me to bits. "If any thing you were the one who grabbed the opportunity to talk to me" oh the nerve.
At this point I was highly irritated by his attitude. I stood up ready to leave when I felt a bolt of warm electricity shoot up my arm, I look down to realise he's holding my wrist.
"Let me go!"I whisper-yelled through gritted teeth. He wasn't smirking anymore this time he wore a serious and determined look.
"Look I'm sorry-"I cut him off "you don't have to be sorry." With that I walk back to my table, I thought six years from college would make a diffrence but I guess I was wrong.
"Who was he?" Cassey asks me immediately I get to our table, you have got to be kidding me,sometimes I wonder if it's the fact that she's blonde that makes her like that.
"It was ken" she furrows her eyebrows then recognition floods through her face."Are you serious! Why didn't you tell me!" I look at her, does she not remember my history with Ken?
I feel a sudden buzz from my phone. I look down towards my phone, it's a message from an unknown number.
Uknown:You.me. dinner tonight. I'll pick you up at eight.
I furrow my brows to this.
Lina:who's this?
Uknown:don't tell me you forgot me already.
Lina:Ken?
Uknown:bingo!
Lina:look I'm not sure if you're oblivious to the fact that I'm married.
I smile at myself for some unknown reason. I look towards Ken's table, only to realise He wasn't there anymore. A buzz.Uknown:okay. Make it seven.
This shocks me, but I couldn't put my finger to what he just said. Then it occurs to me,how did he know my number?
Lina: how did you get my number?
I never got a reply. I saved his number just in case he called back, this time I would be ready.

I think this is okay I guess.
