During the U.S.J. Incident, Class 1A faced their first real-life battle against the League of Villains. What was supposed to be a routine training exercise at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint turned into a nightmare when the villains launched a surprise attack. It was a terrifying and intense battle, but the students of Class 1A stood their ground, fighting not just to protect themselves but also each other. However, amidst the chaos, something truly heartbreaking occurred.
In a tragic turn of events, one of their own, Mineta, was killed. That day, there weren’t just one but two Nomus—massive, bio-engineered monsters that heightened the already dire situation. The presence of the second Nomu caught everyone off guard, amplifying the danger and making the fight even more deadly. Mineta’s death hit Class 1A like a ton of bricks. The shock and grief of losing a classmate in such a horrific way left everyone reeling.
Each student in Class 1A felt the weight of Mineta’s loss differently, but the pain was universal. Some were in disbelief, while others were overwhelmed with guilt, feeling they could’ve done more to prevent the tragedy. The bond they shared as classmates made the loss all the more profound, and it shattered the illusion that they were invincible, even with their quirks.
The mental toll of the battle—and Mineta’s death—was heavy. Anxiety, fear, and a deep sense of uncertainty crept into the hearts of many. The traumatic experience left most of the students struggling to cope, their minds haunted by the violent images of that day. Some began to question their abilities, wondering if they were truly cut out to be heroes. They doubted whether their quirks were strong enough to save others, and whether they themselves were strong enough to survive the dangerous path they had chosen.
The situation would have been even more tragic if not for the timely arrival of All Might. His intervention, battling the Nomus and driving the villains back, was the only reason more lives weren’t lost that day. Still, the emotional scars of the incident lingered long after the fight ended.
Class 1A was never the same after that day. The overwhelming fear, adrenaline, and grief left them mentally and emotionally drained. Some of the students were too frightened to even talk about the battle, their minds racing with doubt and uncertainty. Others tried to push forward, doing their best to encourage their friends, but even their efforts couldn’t erase the trauma. It was like a dark cloud had settled over the class, and it wasn’t going anywhere.
The once confident and eager young heroes now found themselves questioning everything. Could they really be heroes? Did they have the strength, the courage, and the will to keep going? For many, it felt like their dreams were slipping through their fingers. Some were on the verge of giving up, but others, despite their fear, clung to hope and each other.
In the aftermath of the U.S.J. Incident, Class 1A was left fractured and struggling. The experience had broken their spirits, but it had also planted the seeds of growth. While the loss of Mineta was a weight they would carry forever, it also became a reminder of what it truly meant to be a hero. They would have to find the strength not only to fight their enemies but also to conquer the fears and doubts within themselves.
It was the hardest lesson they had ever learned, and it was far from over.
-ONE WEEK LATER-
-COMMON ROOM-It was late evening, and Izuku, Bakugo, Todoroki, and Kirishima were making their way back to the dorms after a long day of training. As they stepped inside the common room, they noticed a few of their classmates sitting on the couch, staring blankly ahead, their expressions distant. The trauma of the U.S.J. incident still clung to them like a dark shadow.
True to form, Bakugo scoffed under his breath. "Bunch of extras," he muttered before heading straight to his room, not bothering to acknowledge the others. Todoroki, ever reserved, said nothing and silently made his way to his own room. Izuku hesitated, feeling the weight of their shared grief and exhaustion, but he too was still grappling with his own recovery. With a quiet, "I'll catch you guys later," he excused himself and disappeared down the hall.
