The entire team sat together around the big wooden table, all eyes on K. Their attention was trained on him as he revealed that Gianna was the newest addition to their label, outlining the imminent changes to their work. Although others probably perceived Gianna as intently focusing on K's every word, her thoughts were consumed by another person altogether—her ex boyfriend who was sitting in front of her.Her fingers fidgeted uncontrollably under the table, desperately picking at her nails. Gianna's heart raced relentlessly within her chest, every time she felt the weight of Joost's gaze upon her, her pulse quickened even more.
She could barely bring herself to meet his gaze, fearing that a single glance would shatter her completely. But her best friend, determined not to let this go, continued to glare fiercely in Joost's direction. If looks could kill, Joost might very well be buried six feet underground at that moment.
The sudden question from K jolted Gianna back to the present, snapping her out of her thoughts. She glanced around the room confused, only to find all eyes fixed on her expectantly. Her heart pounded in her chest as she struggled to recall what they were waiting for. Instinctively, her eyes found Joost's, and in that moment, she experienced a sense of calm, even though she hated to admit it.
Joost had a calming presence that soothed her anxieties no matter the situation. It was as if his reassuring gaze held the power to envelop her in a sense of safety and security. The only thing she needed was to look into his comforting blue eyes, and the chaos within her mind would begin to disappear
"Yeah a party tomorrow sounds good" Adria answered for her with a smile that only heightened Gianna's unease.
In a hushed tone, Gianna leaned in and whispered "Party? What do you mean?" Adria's response was a mischievous smile and a teasing whisper "Just play along. We'll talk later."
Amongst the lively chatter that filled the room, Joost leaned back in his chair, his eyes fixated on his ex-girlfriend. He didn't bother hiding his gaze, knowing full well that she was already aware of his intense stare. How can she sit there and look down effortlessly pretty. This thought silently echoed in his mind.
And why the fuck was Daan staring at her
Joost let out a deep breath as he gently rubbed his palms against his face, attempting to compose himself. Softly, he muttered to himself, "Get a hold of yourself, fast if it's possible "
"That's amazing then" the older man clapped his hands in excitement. Joost observed as Gianna flashed him a sweet smile, one that could make anyone weak in the knees.
Don't do this to me
"The meeting is done. Everyone head back to work. Gianna, I'd like to speak with you further." With those words, everyone promptly rose from their seats and began filing out of the room.
Apson shook Joost's shoulder "Let's go eat something man" but Joost merely shook his head. He had lost his appetite long ago "Nah, I'll head back to the studio" he spoke with a deep voice, "I left something there." With that, Joost rose from his seat and exited the room, leaving his friend with a sense of unease.
Teun spoke up, his voice gentle yet firm, "Leave him be. He needs time to process everything."
The blond stormed into the studio, slamming the door shut behind him. He practically threw himself onto the couch, burying his face in his hands. Why does the universe hate me
Just a week ago, Joost was consumed with worry and fear, desperately searching for any sign of Gianna. Now, here he was, facing the reality of seeing her every day.
"I'll make my own label fuck it" he whispered into his hands, his voice filled with a mixture of anger and frustration. Talk about awkwardness
His heart sank as he heard voices outside the studio, and before he knew it, the pair had entered the room.
