Chapter 4: New Guest?

"I still can't get over the fact she called me a rat!". "Gerold, you do know that she meant nothing about it, right? She was just messing with you like always.". "Yeah but she's so mean to me! Like what did I do to her!," he began crying. "Are you mad just because she called you a rat or the fact she reminds you of the girlfriend you had before you died?". "Shut it! And no she doesn't!".
"Are you sure? You often compare them both and talk about how similar they are". "Yes I'm sure! And no I don't! I have no clue what you are talking about!". "Stop being in denial and just admit it!". "No! I will not! Because all of what you're saying isn't true!". Anneliese sighed. "Just forget it".
Gerold then pushed his glasses up and tilted his head and smirked. "You know..since you want to talk about my past girlfriend why don't we talk about your 7 ex's?". "Why you". "Aw did I hurt your feelings?". "Just shut up!".
"Oh? What makes you think that you can tell someone who's 2 years older than you what to do?". "You're really annoying you know that..maybe she was right..you are a rat". "Not you too!". "But she was here and she left here alive". "At least we thought..my guess is that she actually died but when she left it looked as if she was human but well I'm not sure". "Oh..". After a while they just stood there in silence. "Well at least we now know that we don't have to worry about her leaving us".
"Yeah..I guess..I wonder what her past was like for her to do something like that". "You should ask Emi or Nova". "No way! Those two scare me!". "Who scares you?," there was a voice coming from the stairs. "I-uhhhh who's there!?".
They looked over to the stairs and there was Emi standing at the last step. "Oh! Gerold was just talking about how you scare him". "No that's not true!". "Oh wow he really thinks I'm scary?". "I already said that that's not true!".
"Gerold, stop lying, you just said it not so long ago!". "No I didn't". "Well anyway enough of that I brought Zoey with me". The sounds of footsteps could be heard going down the stairs. "Sorry that it took a while, Emi".
"Don't worry about it". "Oh ok!". Annelise then looked over at Gerold. "What do you want?". "Oh well I was just thinking that since she's here that you should just ask her your question".
"No. Nuh uh, no can do". "Why is that?". "Well because no!". "What's his question?". "Why did you commit suicide?".
"Well that's because I didn't". "What are you talking about?". "That's not how I died". ""Huh? Wait what?". "I mean yeah I tried to but that wasn't the cause..I was just simply bit by a venomous spider".
"Oh..". "Yeah well anyway has anyone seen Nova anywhere?". "Sorry but we haven't seen her anywhere". "It's fine," Zoey sighed. "So what are you going to do now?". "Well I'm going to go and explore this basement more but as I do that I'm going to look for…somethings".
"What are you looking for?". "Well for one a rat and the other is a few candles to light up this house a bit more". "Can I help?". "Yeah that would be nice Gerold". Annelise then looked at him and smirked.
"What do you want now?". "You like her don't you".
"What? Why would I like her? She calls me a rat all of the time and she's really annoying". "Hey! Stupid rat get to work". "See! She called me a rat again". "Come on dont be like that". Annelise looked up at him with a smile.
"Whatever, let's just get this over with". Zoey and Gerold then began looking around. "Why did I agree to this". "Gerold, would you stop complaining and agree to what?". "Why did I agree to working with you?".
"Oh come on, working with me isn't all that bad". "Only because you're not the one being called a rat". "Aw, are you still mad about that?". "Yeah and what if I am?". "Then that's actually kind of funny".
"Do you seriously think that me being upset is amusing?". She ignored him as she went through boxes. Gerold sighed as he began to look through boxes. "Hey I found something!". "I did too, do you want to show each other on a count to three?".
"Sure sounds good". "Ok 1 2..3!". They then both turned around, Gerold was holding a bottle while Zoey was holding a box of candles. "Uh Gerold…is that a bottle of…". "Yes, it's a full bottle of vodka Zoey".
He began to drink straight from the bottle. "GEROLD! Who just drinks that straight from the bottle!". "Uh me". "Weirdo," she rolled her eyes and walked away. "Hey Zoey wait!".
Gerold then jumped up and ran up to her until he caught up and went back to walking. "What is it now?'. "I just want to be by your side you look so alone with nobody around". "Oh?'. "Forget it".

She giggled. "Lets just go upstairs". "Uh ok". They then began to walk towards the stairs. "So why were you looking for a rat?".
"Oh about that..I found a way to bring you guys back that's all". She began to walk up the steps as he followed behind. After a while Zoey and Gerold were in the living room. The door then slammed open and there stood a shadow in the door frame as there was wind and storming. "What the hell?".
"Hola bitches, I'm here sorry I was late by the way. Why is there a headless body outside?". "Oh..hi Jose". "Who is that?". "Jose this is Gerold and Gerold this is my friend Jose". "Uh ok".
"I don't like him". "Eh?". "I don't want you anywhere pass 6ft away from her, got it Jose?". "Is he Jealous?," Zoey thought. "Hey Gerold I'm going to go upstairs and leave you two here to get to know each other".
"Why can't I just go with you?". "Because I think you two should get to know each other more, well bye!". She then went down the hall, she lied, instead of going to the 2nd floor she went to the kitchen. "Zoey there you are!". "Oh hi there Nova".

Zoey felt as if there was a presence behind her. "Zoey lets..go". "Go where?". "Anywhere but here". "Uh ok then..maybe we should just go up to the 3rd floor".
She then turned around. There was a 6ft tall shadow with long straight black hair with her bangs covering her face. "AH Shit!," Zoey jumped back an inch. "Didn't know you were there do you mind moving your bangs away from your face?". The shadow then stood there silently. "Uh

Suddenly all of the lights turned on, she could see the long vintage white dress the shadow girl was wearing and her pale skin. "Oh my, your dress is beautiful..you're pale". "Why thank you, come join me dear". As Zoey stood there confused, the shadow began to move her bangs away from her face, she had 3 eyes and Zoey continued to examine the girl, she noticed that she also had horns. "Hey uhh..".
"The name is Cassidy but if you want just call me Cass for short". "Well uhh Cassidy if you'd like I can cut your bangs and put your hair up so then it's not in your face". "That would be nice thank you". She then pulled out some scissors and hair ties. Meanwhile with Jose and Gerold. "I don't like you, suka".
"That's crazy and by the way your shoes untied.". "Blin! Why you..you uhhh the fuck do I call you!". Meanwhile with Zoey and Nova. Zoey began to cut her bangs to a length where they are not in her face. "Thank you..I can now actually see better". "No problem..can you do me a favor and turn aloud?".
"Sure". Cassidy then turned around and she began to braid her hair. "Now that's better". "Thank you! You've been really nice to me and I appreciate it a lot". "No problem," she smiled.
"Hey you two, let's go check out the third floor". "Oh! Alright". Zoey then began to leave the kitchen and went down the hall. Cassidy followed behind along with Nova. "So Cassidy what's your story?," she looked at her with confusion.
"Ever since I was born I was experimented on which is what caused me to take this form..but..I was experimented on so much it well..killed me..". "Oh..". Zoey turned her head back looking at the two. "Come on you two were near the stairs to the second floor, I don't need you two falling up the stairs". "Alright, we get it mom".
Cassidy looks at them with confusion. "What is a mom?". "Uhhh im not going into that subject". "Oh ok". As soon as they reached the last step to the second floor they immediately went and looked around the hallway.
After a while of looking around. "Hey Zoey and Cassidy I found it!". Zoey poked her head out of the room. "What did you find?". "The stairs to the third floor but it's covered in blood?".
"Oh don't worry about it". "But Zoey there's literally blood streaming down the stairs". "Well what do you want me to do about it?," she sighed. Back with Jose and Gerold. "I think you got anger issues checked that out?".
"Why you damn annoying suka!". "I don't understand your problems and what's a suka?". "Oh my lord you're a stupid bitch, and I don't like you!". "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed but it doesn't look like you go to bed.". "Well duh im a fucking ghost you dumbass bitch".

Jose then left the living room and went down the hall. "Hey kid what's with Gerold?," Emi floated beside him. "Don't know but I think that ghost is depressed". "Why do you say that?". "Something about someone calling him a rat all the time seems like he is sad about that".
"Oh that would be Zoeys doing was there anything else? He tends to be rude to newcomers, especially guys".
"Had an argument with that fella hope he gets that issue checked out soon". "What did you guys argue about?". "Something about him not wanting me to be near Zoey or something". "I told you Emi, he does in fact like her," Annelise floated beside Emi. "Cool, I'm hungry".
"I wouldn't recommend getting anything from the kitchen". "Food is food you don't eat you die". "Uhm ok?..just to warn you most of the food that was made into a stew exploded and is everywhere". "Ah ok.. I recommend hunting then which I will do I hope". "Uh ok just look out for bears".
"Making me not wanna go now yup yup". "oh..uh I'm sorry I guess..?". Back with Zoey. "So are we going to go upstairs or not?," Zoey looked at them with confusion. "Yeah lets just go," Nova then began to walk up the stairs, Zoey and Cassidy followed her behind.
As they walked up Zoey noticed that it was really dark so she tried to turn on the lights. After a few seconds the lights turned on. "Wow, that's a lot of blood". Zoey then looked down, the floor was a flowing river of blood and floating skeletons. "oh..my".
"Is everything ok?". "Yeah just well". "What? The fact that this floor is nothing but a flowing river of blood? I already knew that". "Ok well is there at least a box here?". "Uhh probably but it may be soggy from the blood".
"oh..ok". She then began to walk down the hall and the further down she went the higher the blood rose up her legs. After a while she began to look inside the rooms but when she opened the door to one of them she stood there shocked. "What the..hell?". The room was nicely decorated and clean, the one thing she found a bit disturbing was the human skeleton tucked into the bed. She walked further into the room and began to examine it which she then found a wooden box.
"This will do". She then picked up the box. "Excuse me, what are you doing here?," a 5ft'12 tall guy who looks to be from the 1950's because of the suit he was wearing, has short wavy brown hair with hazel eyes stood in front of her. "Why hello there lewis". "Oh..I didn't know that was you Zoey".
"Dont worry about it, so what are you doing here?". "I was summoned by that ouija board in the living room". "Oh..well oops". "So where's Nova?". "Oh she's in the hall, now let me get back to doing what I was going to do".
Zoey began to walk around the room finding severed limbs and random floating organs and tossed them into the wooden box. "What are you doing?". "I'm grabbing things that I will need to bring the spirits back". "Are you sure that you know what you're doing?". "Yeah why?".
"Well because you're trying to bring the spirits back to the living but that's more complex than you think". "That's why I'm going by what the spell book says, silly". "But still I don't think you're taking this whole thing seriously". "But I am, Lewis". "Doesn't seem like it".
"Oh fuck you". "Why fuck you too". She continued to look around and whatever she found that she didn't need she would toss away. "Zoey, what are you doing?". "Looking for the things I need for this plan of mine to work".
"Uh-huh sure as if your plan will actually work as you planned". "Oh go to hell". "Already in it". "Just shut up". She then left the room and began looking in other rooms.
Meanwhile with Nova and Cassidy. "Where is that fucking emo bitch". "Are you talking about your mom?". "No-she's not my mom". "But you said she was". "I was being sarcastic".
"I'm only 6. How should I have known that?". "Oh yeah I forgot you were 6". Back with Zoey. "Where are those darn severed limbs". "You do realize that you could just use a whole human body for whatever you're going to do". "Well yeah but I also need human body parts and organs to sacrifice along with a whole human Annelise".
"Oh well there is one in the kitchen an-". "Sush". "What is i-". "Be quiet..two people have been up here already before us..two humans in fact". "How do you know that?".
"I just do". Zoey then began to go up to the next room, she gently pushed the door open. "M-Ma-Makayla!". There laid Makayla on the floor beside the bed with something wrapped around her neck, her skin was a purplish color. "It looks as if she died by suffocation".
"yeah..I can tell". Zoey stood there silently staring at Makylas body. "Hey I'm sorry that this had to happen," she then rested her hand on Zoeys shoulder. Tears began to stream down her face. "Don't worry it's fine after all with the plan that I have, everyone will come back".
"But you're crying". "No I'm not!," she turned away from her and began to quickly wipe her tears away. "Yeah you are". "No!". Back to Nova and Cassidy.
"Oh my! Hi there Nova what are you doing here ali-," Nova then immediately covered his mouth. "Be quiet and don't say another word?". He nodded. She slowly removed her hand. "Good".
"Who is that old man?". "Excuse me?! Did your parents not teach you proper manners?". "What are those?". "They are the people who took care of you". "So the scientists were my parents?".
"That's not what I mean". "Oh you're talking about a Mother and a Father..I don't know who mine are or if they are alive..I was raised in a lab". "Oh so you're a lab rat". "Lewis, be nice! She's only 6". "Oh that's your name..".
"You look kind of creepy now that I look at you". "Yeah I get told that a lot". She frowned. Back with Zoey. "Well Annelise". "Yeah?". "Can you do me a favor and do something about her?".
"Sure". "Thankyou". Zoey then left the room and went back to the others but as she did something grabbed her arm and she was pulled away into the darkness. Zoey screamed at whatever it was to let her go as she was dragged further into the third floor. After what felt like forever Zoeys back hit the wall.
"W-where am I?". She looked up and there were 5 shadows hovering over her. "Jack what the hell did you bring us?". "I brought you a human girl who was trying to bring the reawaken the dead". "How can you call me a human when I'm dead like the others?".
"Don't you dare question us". "And who the fuck are you?". "We are the owners of the third floor, this is our territory, every spirit has its own territory. Did you not know that?". "No I knew that..but I guess that explains why the third floor is like..this". "Do you have a problem with that?".
"N-no everything is fine..". "That's good". "Just a quick question". "And that is?". "Just..what do you want from me? You drag me all the way down here so what do you want?".
"We decided to keep you from bringing them back and make sure you can't leave the house ever again". "Heh, have fun with that," she began to get up. Meanwhile with Jose. "I'm lost now but upstairs seems cool". "Yeah I mean you should go there, there's a lot up there to explore uh where did Annelise go?".
"I don't know and I don't know who that is but I hope you find her!". "Annelise was the girl who was just here beside me". "Ah I don't remember". "Oh ok". Jose then began to go up the stairs.
"This place is cold and cool I guess but I don't have a purpose to be here". Emi followed behind. "Of course it's cold..this house is old and abandoned". "They should destroy it for a new building or something, probably a factory". "Wow how rude".
"That one ghost is worse, can't even breathe without him calling me a bitch in this place". "Oh you mean Gerold". Back with Nova and Cassidy. "Where is Zoey? She's been gone for a while now..". "Yeah..where did she go?".
Lewis looked over at them. "What do you mean I just saw her not so long ago going down this direction". "That's odd". "Oh my I'm so sorry!". They all looked at each other then towards the hall in front of them, Annelise was running towards them.
"What's wrong?". "Zoey she…she was taken..". "How?". "By what?". "Where?".
"Woah calm down, I cant answer all of your questions at once". "Well I'm sorry that I'm worried about my friend because she went missing". "Ok well still I can't answer multiple questions at once". "Ok well can you answer the questions?". "Ok for the first question, there was some kind of creature that dragged her away, the second question I can't answer because I don't know and I also don't know where".
"Oh..well we should go find her". "Yeah". "Hey who said that Zoey was taken away?!," Gerold floated up through the floor. "Oh hi Gerold," Annelise nervously laughed. "Ann, explain".
She knew that by him calling her by her nickname that he wasn't happy. "well..Zoey was looking for stuff to use to bring us back but then..". "Spit it out Ann!". "Ok ok..back to what I was saying..as she was looking for the things..we found her friend in one of the rooms dead so she told me to take care of it for her as she went back to you guys…but then she was pulled away in the opposite direction". "So what you're telling me is that..you thought that it was a good idea to let her go back without someone with her?!".
"N-no I just didn't think tha-". "That's your problem! You never think about anything!". "I-Im..sorry," she looked down at the floor away from him as she began to cry. "Hey there's no reason to cry..he's just upset because his friend has gone missing. Sir," Cassidy looked over at Gerold. "Who me?".
"Yes you. Please understand that she didn't think that this would happen because when she first came up here this never happened..we can still find her, she shouldn't have been able to go far". "I guess you're right". "That's because I am right, it's sad that someone younger knows this better than you". "Wait, how old are you?". "I'm 6, sir.".
"There is no fucking way that your 6 years old being that tall". "You can blame the scientists for that". "What are you talking about?". "I've been experimenting since I was 3," she tilted her head to the side smiling. "Oh..you shouldn't be proud of that".
"Oh….". "It must have been painful". "What do you mean?". "You were experimented on, that had to hurt". "It didn't really hurt but..maybe a little, since you have asked me questions..I have one for you".
"And that is?". "What is a parent?". "Its..its a person or two who take care of you and care for you the most". "So the scientists?". "Well..uhm no".
"You're confusing me". "Do you know anyone outside of the lab?". "There were two people". "Who were they?". "A man and a woman..the scientists gave them money and they handed me to the scientists, could they be my parents?".
"Well..I doubt it". "Oh..". "Yeah I'm sorry". Cassidy then began to walk down the hallway. "Where are you going?".
"I'm going to go looking for Zoey". "Well if you're going to go look for her then I'm going with you". "Oh alright then". Meanwhile with Zoey. "What did you mean by what you said not so long ago?".
"What? The fact that we will make it where you can't leave this place no matter what?, well you are just going to have to find out for yourself, but until then you can leave and go back to your friends". "Uhm ok". She then stood up and began to walk past the 5 of them. "Oh by the way..bringing them back may not be a good Idea Zoey". "Whatever you say".
She continued to walk away as the sound of their voice faded away. "Where the heck is sh-ow.." Cassidy bumped into someone and fell onto the floor into the river of blood. "Oh my, are you ok?..Wait, is that you Cassidy?," she reached her hand out to her. "Zoey, is that you?," she reached her hand to grab hers.
Zoey then helped her up. "Oh my, where were you?". "I was taken by someone or something..they didn't like the idea of me bringing you guys back to life". "Oh..". "Yeah".
"Cassidy where did you g-oh there you are. Who's that you're with?". "Oh wow you don't recognize me?, oh how I'm disappointed in you Gerold". "wait..Zoey?! Cassidy you found her?!". "It's more like she found me then me finding her".
"Where were you?". "I'm not sure some weird creature took me somewhere and they discussed something about how they did not like the fact that I wanted to bring you back". "Oh?". "yeah..well I'm going to go and look for the others". "Uhm ok".
She then began to walk down the hall towards the entrance. Gerold followed behind her complaining. "I don't like that Jose guy". "You don't like any guy". "I-how mean, that's not true!".
"Uh huh," she rolled her eyes. "Well anyway I also don't like Lew-". "Yeah I had a feeling you didn't like him". "Hey I wasn't finished". "You were going to say that you also don't like Lewis right?".
"Hey!". "Womp womp". "Wow how mature". "Shut up, it's kind of weird how you hate every guy that's associated with me". "I-...how was your day?".
"Oh wow the wonderful topic change its been fine I guess..". "That's good". "Yeah". She continued walking in silence. With Nova. "Oh I think they found Zoey".
"That's good". "Yep". "Hey Nova, I'm back!". "Hi Zoey!". Lewis waved and Gerold glared.
"What's his problem?". Zoey then stood in front of the two of them. "I'm not even sure at this point". "Oh uhm ok then". Annelise leaned towards Lewis and signaled him to get down, since he was too tall.
"Gerold likes Zoey but doesn't want to admit it," she whispered into his ear. "Oh..yeah that's believable". "I'm going down to the first floor". "Uhm ok?". Zoey then walked past them and went down the stairs.
After a while she finally made it to the first floor.
She walked down the hall as if she was hypnotized by something it felt like something was calling for her. After a while she finally made it to the last room in that hall and opened the door. On the door there was a sign that said Zoey's room. When she walked in she sat on the bed which was perfectly made and she went and opened the nightstand and grabbed a journal from it. She grabbed a pen and began writing, Today I met two new spirits, Cassidy is six but was an experimental project when she was alive, she's a mysterious person and the way she talks is really soft, Annelise is fifteen and shes germen and in her past before she died she was in highschool, she's kind of chill, the way she speaks is as if she screams her heart out to her favorite songs.
After she was done she closed the journal and put it away. "Hm makes me wonder..does Gerold like me or something, I mean he hates all guys that hang around me and, he's overprotective from time to time..". "I wonder..."
