Not even half an hour into the party, and half of the people, including Aaron, were already drunk out of their minds.

I keep checking the time on my phone, watching as the minutes slowly go by. Compared to the last party, everyone was right to say that this pre-homecoming party looked better than the one that was held last year. The mansion was bigger and unlike last year, it was as if the capacity had multiplied by over two hundred.

I slip my phone in my jacket pocket as Theo approaches me, his arm wrapped around Eric.

“Hey. No drinking tonight?” Theo asks.

I shake my head. “Nah. I don’t wanna end up like Aaron.”

Theo turns his head to Aaron, who was drunkenly dancing in the middle of the large living room along with two other girls who were on either side of him. Theo turns his head back to me, a look of concern on his face. “I'm so glad he’s not the designated driver.”

“Is Aliyah not here yet?” Eric asks me.

“She said that she, Kira, and Jennie were on their way,” I say.

“Oh, okay. By the way, what did you say to Aaron about-” Theo starts to talk, but Eric cuts him off.

“Do you wanna dance, Theo?”

“Oh. Um, yeah, of course I wanna dance.”

Eric smiles and takes Theo’s hand, leading him to the middle of the room with the other dancers.

I smile at the two when I feel a pair of eyes on me. Look around, I meet the gaze of Brooke, who was now coming towards me, a red solo cup in her hands.

“Enjoying the party?” She asks once she’s in front of me.

“Nothing entertaining has really happened yet,” I say, my eyes averting hers. I checked the front doors, seeing if my girlfriend was walking through them.

“Trust me. Something entertaining will happen,” Brooke says, a grin on her face. “Wouldn’t be a pre-homecoming party without the entertainment.”

I catch a small glimpse of her smirk, seeing that it almost looked sinister. “What’re you talking about?”

“Just saying. A party like this is never boring. Things will definitely be heating up very soon.” She takes a sip of her drink, patting my arm. “Have fun, Deion.”

I watched as Brooke headed back to where she was, returning to her group of friends as her words were now filling me with worry, wondering what she meant by what she said. “Things will definitely be heating up very soon.”

What was she planning?

I get snapped out of my thoughts when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn my head, seeing Aliyah now standing beside me, looking gorgeous as ever in the dress that she was wearing.

She gives me a smile. “You look like you’ve never seen me in a dress before.”

“No, it’s just…you look stunning.”

“Thank you.” Aliyah touches the leather of my jacket, grinning up at me. “You clean up well yourself, mister Knight.”

“Why thank you, Alicat,” I say as I place my hands on her waist, gripping gently. “But you know that I can’t top you. You look absolutely amazing in that dress. No wonder you didn’t wanna show me it right away.”

“At least you waiting two days to see me in this dress didn’t kill you.”

“Oh, trust me. I was practically dying on the inside to see you in this dress.” I pull her closer and lean down to her ear, my voice lowering to a whisper. “And now seeing you in this dress is making me want to take you home and–”
