The friends looked at Jisung in a mix of surprise and confusion. No one had expected him to actually go through with the idea.
"Jisung, please, don't get involved. What if the cheater hits you?" Hyunjin says, his eyes widening with concern as he sits up straighter on the couch, visibly worried.
"And what if the betrayed person is one of those who knows they're being cheated on but decides to stay anyway?" Felix adds, sitting forward on the couch, his voice soft but carrying an edge of disbelief, as if he can't quite believe this conversation is happening.
"I'd tell him anyway. If he's stupid, that's not my problem," Seungmin says with a nonchalant shrug, leaning back lazily against the armrest, clearly more relaxed than the others.
"But you said before you wouldn't say anything, Seungmin. Why won't you speak up?" Hyunjin asks, confused by his friend's sudden change of heart.
"Jisung's the one with the idea," Seungmin replies, waving it off as if it were the simplest thing in the world. "Let him handle it. Whoever comes up with the plan should see it through."
"Seriously, guys, I'm going to do it. But I'm doing it for the kitten," Jisung says firmly, his face set with determination. "If he stays in the relationship, I'll report him for emotional and psychological abuse of the kitten."
"Who even deals with that?" Hyunjin asks, genuinely curious, his brows furrowing as he tries to figure out if such a thing even exists.
"I don't know, but I'll find out," Jisung replies, standing up as if preparing himself for the inevitable showdown.
"You're going now?" Felix asks, his voice tinged with worry. He glances at the clock on the wall, wondering how this situation had escalated so quickly.
"No," Jisung says, shaking his head. "From what I've observed, the betrayed one stays home tomorrow. It's the only day the apartment is quiet enough for me to read. I'll talk to him then."
"Jisung, if this goes wrong..." Felix trails off, clearly still concerned.
"I trust you, Jisung, holy helper of the betrayed," Seungmin says with a laugh, now lying flat on the floor, clearly feeling the effects of too much wine.
"I'll have the police number ready to dial in case a fight breaks out," Hyunjin says, pulling out his phone and adding the emergency number to his favorites, just in case.
"If he stays with the cheater, I'm going to break into his house and steal his cat," Jisung says, his eyes staring intently at the wall, as if deep in thought about his plan.
"Okay, so I guess I can't call the police if you're planning a break-in," Hyunjin says with a chuckle, pulling his phone back out and removing the police number from his favorites.
"JESUS CHRIST!" Felix exclaims, standing up from the couch and running a hand through his hair in frustration. "I have work tomorrow. What am I supposed to do now?"
