Heeseung held Jangmi's lifeless body, his heart shattered into pieces. He couldn't accept that she had sacrificed herself for him. Tears streamed down his face, and he clutched her tightly, as if holding her close could somehow keep her from slipping away.
The other members gathered around with everyone crying. Sunghoon, his hands shaking, gently placed a hand on Heeseung's shoulder. "We need to get her to the hospital," he said, his voice trembling. "There's still a chance."
Sunoo was just shocked, he was looking at Jangmi from the distance, he couldn't bear to see her up close.
Heeseung nodded. He carefully lifted her into his arms, her blood soaking into his clothes. "Let's go."
The members started getting out of the house, working together to clear the path. Jay took the lead, ensuring the way was clear.
Niki and Jake covered Heeseung who was holding Jangmi, their eyes constantly scanning for any remaining threats.
They reached their van, and Heeseung gently laid Jangmi in the backseat. "Drive fast," he ordered Jay, who was already behind the wheel. Jay nodded, and the van sped off, the tires screeching as they drove fast.
Heeseung sat beside Jangmi, holding her hand and whispering words of encouragement. "Stay with me, Jangmi. You're strong. You can make it. Please, just hold on." He wiped the blood from her lips, his tears mixing up with the blood on his face.
The ride to the hospital felt like an eternity. The other members were silent, their faces grim and filled with worry.
When they finally arrived at the hospital, Heeseung didn't wait for the van to fully stop. He jumped out, carrying Jangmi in his arms and shouting for help. "Please! Someone, help us! She's been shot!"
The emergency room staff quickly ran over to him, bringing those wheely hospital beds. Heeseung gently placed Jangmi on it, his hands lingering on hers until the doctors and nurses took her away. He tried to follow, but a nurse stopped him. "You need to wait here, sir. We'll do everything we can."
Heeseung stood there, helpless and heartbroken, watching as Jangmi disappeared behind the emergency room. The other members gathered around him, their faces pale and their eyes filled with worry.
"She'll make it," Sunoo said, trying to sound confident but failing to hide the quiver in his voice. "She has to, we still have so many things to do together."
Heeseung went outside the hospital to get some fresh air.
His mind was a whirlwind of memories with her. He remembered every moment with Jangmi, every smile, every laugh, and every touch. The thought of losing her was unbearable, a pain so deep it felt like his heart was being torn apart.
After a while he went back inside the hospital.
The doctor finally emerged. Heeseung and the others immediately stood up, their hearts pounding.
"How is she?" Heeseung's voice was barely more than a whisper.
The doctor sighed, his eyes filled with sorrow. "She's in critical condition, we are doing everything we can, but you have to prepare for the worst."
Heeseung felt his legs buckle, and Jay quickly caught him, helping him to a chair. "No, no, she can't die," Heeseung muttered, his voice breaking. "She can't leave us like this."
Sunoo dropped to the floor, where Niki rushed to comfort him.
The doctor placed a hand on Heeseung's shoulder. "We'll continue to monitor her closely, but you should prepare for the worst. I'm so sorry."
Heeseung couldn't take his eyes off the door to the ICU, praying for a miracle. "Jangmi, please," he whispered. "You have to fight. You have to come back to us."
More hours passed, and the tension in the room grew unbearable. The other members tried to comfort Heeseung, but their own fears and grief made it difficult to find the right words.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the doctor returned. His face was drawn and tired, and Heeseung's heart sank at the sight.
"I'm afraid I have bad news," the doctor said softly. "Jangmi's condition has worsened. Despite our best efforts, she isn't responding to treatment. It's only a matter of time now."
"There is no way she would be alive." The doctor said with a sad expression on his face.
Heeseung's world shattered. He collapsed into a chair, his head in his hands, sobbing uncontrollably. The others gathered around him, their own tears falling freely. They had fought so hard, come so far, and yet it hadn't been enough.
The doctor gently placed a hand on Heeseung's shoulder. "I'm so sorry. If you'd like, you can say your goodbyes now."
Heeseung nodded, unable to speak, and the group followed the doctor to Jangmi's room. The sight of her lying there, pale and lifeless, was almost too much to bear. Heeseung took her hand, feeling its coolness, and tears streamed down his face.
"Jangmi," he whispered, his voice breaking. "I love you so much. I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you. Please, if you can hear me, know that you mean everything to me."
Heeseung took a deep breath, trying to steady his trembling hands. He gently brushed a strand of hair from Jangmi's face, his touch tender and filled with sorrow.
"Do you remember," Heeseung continued, his voice barely audible, "the night we stayed up talking about our dreams? You told me you wanted to travel the world, see new places, experience new things. I promised you we'd do it together. I promised you a future full of happiness and love. And now...now I don't know how to go on without you."
"You know how humans die and reconnect with their loved ones in their afterlife, I can't even meet you, I'm not even a human." His voice broke off.
Heeseung leaned in, pressing his forehead against hers, his tears mingling with hers. "I love you, Jangmi. I love you more than words can ever express.
He pulled back slightly, looking at her peaceful face, wishing with all his heart that she would open her eyes, that she would smile and tell him everything would be okay. But the reality was harsh.
The room was filled with the sound of quiet sobs, the other members overcome with grief. Sunghoon placed a comforting hand on Heeseung's shoulder, his own eyes red and swollen. "She knows, Heeseung. She knows how much you love her."
As the members quietly left the room, their heads bowed in grief, Heeseung stayed behind for a moment longer, his eyes locked on Jangmi's face. He knew he had to let her go, but the pain of it was almost too much to bear.
"Im sorry sir, but you have to leave the room now." One of the nurse said.
"I love you so much Jangmi, I will never ever forget you my love." He said one last time before turning to go out of the hospital room.
"Hee?"
