Entering the Raulin Pack
Rylan's POV
I glared into the rogue's eyes. Something was different about her and I couldn't pinpoint exactly what that difference was. At first, I thought it was the way she smelled. There was a hint of rogue with something else, something familiar. Like I had smelled her before, but I know I haven't. It was a more powerful smell than rogue scent, but it was also obviously rogue. Along with her odd smell, the way she had reacted when I said "little wolf" was suspicious. She could be acting innocent so I will spare her life, but the way she's acting almost feels like she doesn't know. And one of the craziest parts to this hysteria is the fact that my wolf can't sense her wolf.
I moved my right hand up against her throat to gain more of an advantage. Maybe with a little threatening she would drop the act and submit. Hell, she's either completely unaware or the most reckless she wolf I've encountered. I shook myself out of my thoughts and glared at her more, baring my teeth so she knew what she was in for, but instead of the fear I was expecting I got a much more unexpected reaction.
She passed out. Like completely unconscious. The only thing keeping her limp body from hitting the ground was my tight grip on her neck. I let out an irritated breath I didn't realize I'd been holding and maneuvered her around until I was holding her bridal style. One of her hands was hanging down to the floor, swinging while I walked with her in my arms. She was a tall woman; her auburn hair fell next to her hanging arm in lose waves. The image from when her grey eyes were locked with mine moments ago passed through my mind and I suddenly felt a wave of guilt flood through my body.
It wasn't typical for any wolf to be that terrified during a confrontation with another wolf. If anything, she should have been more aggressive considering she was a she wolf on her own in a private room with 6 pack males. Something about the situation didn't sit right with me.
My men and I spoke before we decided the girl needed to come back with us. I carried her out of the club through a back exit, we did get a questioning look from that jerk wad who had smacked her ass earlier. The thought of that man made my blood boil. Men like him who treat women like they own them push my buttons. My mama didn't raise me to sit and watch that happen, even if Tessa is technically my enemy.
The men and I made our way back to pack territory pretty quickly. I had carried Tessa over my back when in wolf form; she was out the entire way there. After shifting back to our skins, I carried the girl straight into the pack house. The air was thick with tension. I had no doubt everyone's wolves were on high alert with the smell of a rogue in the pack house. Normally they didn't come across the territory lines unless the situation was drastic or we were taking a prisoner. In those cases, the entire pack was usually informed prior to the rogue showing up, which was not the case tonight.
I made my way up the stairs and down the hall to the familiar door leading to the alpha's office. Just as my hand was reaching out to the door to knock, the door opened, and my father was looking right at me.
"Son. Care to tell me why you've broken one of the most important pack rules tonight by bringing this rogue here unannounced?" His arms were crossed, and the lines in his face seemed to wrinkle more as disappointment filled his features.
I walked into the room and sat in a chair across from dad's desk. She was still asleep in my arms, her breathing steady. The desire to defend her was swimming around in my mind as I replayed my father's tone when he called her a rogue. It is what she is, but the way he said it was making my wolf upset. He's pacing in my mind right now, like he has something to tell me. But there is only silence between us.
