A few days had passed, it was Friday noon, and I was lying in bed. I hadn't texted or called Billie since Saturday, even though she had tried to reach me several times. Of course, I didn't answer.

"Are you still pretending to be sick?" my little sister leaned against my door, and I turned to her and just nodded. She sighed, walked into my room, and closed the door behind her before sitting on my bed.

"Listen to me. You kissed Billie Eilish and then just left her standing there. Maybe that was a mistake, but that doesn't mean you have to avoid everyone in your life," she said, and I immediately sat up, frowning.

"Wait, how do you know about Billie?" I asked, shocked.

"I saw you, and besides, I know what kind of cars she drives. Remember, I'm a fan of hers," she said.

"Please promise me you won't tell anyone that I have or had contact with Billie," I pleaded, and she just nodded slightly.

I let myself fall back down. "I'm an idiot," I said.

"Of course you are, but I don't think it's over yet," Leah said, and at that moment, my phone rang. I saw the contact: 'Billie🤍'. I pressed decline.

"Seriously? That could have been your chance to fix things," Leah remarked, but I rolled my eyes and got up.

"Stay out of it, you're only 16," I said, grabbing some fresh clothes.

My sister gave me a serious look. "I'll sort it out and apologize, but please give me a little more time, okay?" I asked, and she nodded.

"Just don't do anything stupid," she said, and I nodded before she left, and I went to the bathroom.

There, I took a shower, finally brushed my teeth, did my hair, and everything else I do every morning. Okay, it was noon, but no one needs to know that. Then I went downstairs to the kitchen, ate breakfast, and took the bus to work because my boss was sick and asked me to prepare two buffets by tomorrow. I know it will be stressful to get two buffets ready by tomorrow, but my boss only told me this morning that she was sick and couldn't do the buffets, so I had to do them.

"Hey," I greeted Andrea with a slight but tired smile.

"Hey, look who decided to exist again!" she laughed, and I rolled my eyes.

"How are you?" she asked while wiping the counter with a cloth.

"Uh, I still have a bit of a sore throat," I lied. Of course, I was fine, and I didn't want to go to school because I didn't have the energy and was afraid of running into Billie, but Andrea didn't need to know that, right?

I put on an apron and went straight to the kitchen.

"Are you sure you don't need any help? You know I like to help, and it's quite a lot," Andrea followed me to the back.

"Andrea, calm down. It's just two buffets; it's not the end of the world," I smiled slightly, and she just nodded.

"Okay, I have to go, but—"

"If I need help, I'll let you know," I finished her sentence, and she smiled before leaving the kitchen.

"Exactly, I'm just a phone call away," Andrea called out before disappearing through the door.

I sighed and let my gaze wander through the kitchen. Two buffets meant a lot of work: appetizers, main courses, desserts, and snacks. I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.
