*at Fredbear's family dinner*
The atmosphere was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Tension filled the room as the crowd of six looked at the scene in front of them in horror. Hanging limply from the mouth of Fredbear, was the body of 8-year-old Evan Afton. Blood was splattered on the front of the animatronic and coated the robot's metallic teeth.
"Someone call 911!" the sobbing voice of Elizabeth Afton penetrated the silence. The man in a purple uniform, William Afton, ran into his office to dial the emergency number. Michael Afton, age 14 stood front and centre of the bloody animatronic, horror seeming to have paralysed him as he whispered "What have I done..."
Within 10 minutes, the ambulance arrived at the dinner. Paramedics dislodged the boys skull from the mouth of Fredbear and gently place his limp body on a stretcher, wheeling him out of the diner, which was now a crime scene. A paramedic walks up to the William and says, "Are you William J Afton, father of Evan Afton" the man nods sullenly . The paramedic beckons for him to follow her into the ambulance without a backwards glance. Elizabeth follows her father as the paramedics wheel her twin gently into the ambulance. With one sorry glance at her older brother, she too climbs into the ambulance and watches the door shut.
Michael watches his family wordlessly climb into the ambulance, as a wave of emotion washes over him. He is alone in the restaurant. His three friends fled the scene as soon as they heard sirens.
"This was just supposed to be a prank. This wasn't meant to happen...Evan.." he said.
*5 days later, at the hospital*
The family is gathered around an unconscious Evan. The bandage still conceal his injuries, his skull bashed inwards from the force of the bite. The doctor came sullenly into the room and addressees the family.
"Evan is in critical condition. His developing skull could not withstand the force of the bite. Right now he is in a coma, fluttering in and out of an unconscious state. We're trying our best to keep him with us, but just know that his chances of survival are slim" he reported gravely.
The 3 Aftons looked at each other, and then at the boy, whose life source was slowly draining. The gravity of this situation was starting to sink in. Evan might not make it...
The family sat in silence for a long while, then finally Michael spoke, addressing his dying brother directly
"I-I don't know if you can hear me Evan, but I'm sorry." He apologised weakly. Elizabeth gave him a watery smile. She appreciated it. His father, however, gave the boy a hard stare. How could he raise such a boy? A bully who picks on his younger siblings? A murderer?!
Afton had been struggling with his oldest son for about a year now. Micheal had gotten in with the wrong crowd. They had influenced him negatively. Ever since he had opened the diner, William had been spending less time at home. He had less time to deal with Micheal, less time with Elizabeth. The cameras he installed around the house hadn't been enough. The toy with a microphone he'd gifted to Evan hadn't been enough. Now, his absence came at the price of his son's life. The gravity of the situation weighed on him heavily...
A nurse came into the ward, interrupting the family's grieving. "Aftons, I'm afraid visiting hours are over..." she said indifferently. The family trooped out of the ward, with Afton taking one final glance at his son, making the promise that would send his life, and the life of his children, to pure insanity
"You are broken. But I will put you back together..."
