Rin knew ever since he was a kid that he wasn’t normal “how can a child be so ferocious?”  a woman asked as she watched Rin walk away “I wish he’d disappear from here!” another added in disgust “you’d think he was a demon’s child…” the third woman spoke while they kept their children away from him however Rin heard what they said considering he wasn’t too far from them “but i’m not! I’m not… I’m no demon!” he yelled in annoyance and anger, ragged breath reverberated as footsteps hit against the platform behind the sign in a shopping mall as Rin, Lilli and Fujimoto ran from the demons ‘why are there so many?!’ Lilli thought as she noticed the little coal tars “the road is unmarked for those without faith. The hand of god will cause them to fall from Jacob’s ladder!” Fujimoto chanted as he got rid of another demon that got in their way, more appeared at the end of the platform blocking their way so they climbed into the roof of the shopping mall letting go of Rins arm.

“Come with me!” Fujimoto exclaimed as he ran ahead of Rin and Lilli “seriously?” Rin asked as he watched his dad jump off the railing, the duo followed after him and landed yet Rin stumbled as he tried to catch his footing almost falling from the edge of the buildings roof but was caught by Fujimoto, Rin landed on his knees to catch his breath but noticed that neither his dad or Lilli was moving and noticed that they were surrounded by demons that looked like dogs “what the hell are they?” Lilli asked as she noticed their appearance had mould on them “ugh, they stink!” Rin exclaimed as he covered his nose with Lilli doing the same “they’re ghouls. Demons who possess the dead” Fujimoto stated “ghouls?” Rin asked as he still held his nose and looked at his dad.

“Lucky for you. If this weren’t Japan, we’d be beset by ghouls in human form!” Fujimoto commented while he stared at the ghouls “there’s nothing lucky about this!” both Rin and Lilli exclaimed, disagreeing with him, Fujimoto grabbed a canister that looked like a grenade from his pockets, startling Rin and Lilli “whoa- is that a bomb?” Rin asked him nervously “not to worry!” Fujimoto answered as he threw it at the ghouls knocking them over “it’s just holy water” he added as he grabbed Rins wrist again and began running, Fujimoto opened the door and closed it again then leaned against it “it’s not exactly easy to babysit at my age, you know” he sighed “who’re you calling a baby!” Rin exclaimed in annoyance “you” Lilli answered rolling her eyes “now then, let’s head home while we can” Fujimoto spoke as he pushed himself off the door and began to head down the stairs “are you saying it’s not over yet?” Rin asked as they followed him.

“Didn’t I tell you? Demons of all species will be coming after you two for every kind of reason. The sun will set soon… that’s when demons become active” he answered as he turned to look at them, “are you sure you don’t remember anything?” one of Shiratori’s goons asked after they returned to where he was as it now changed to night “not even that you tried to waste Okumura?” “or that his body suddenly burst into flames?” the others asked “it’s no good, i can’t remember a thing…” Shiratori answered them, the goons looked at each other after “hey, i spotted you 500 yen for dinner, mr Shiratori!” one of the goons exclaimed pointing to himself while the other two looked at him “a-and i paid for all your medical treatment!” another added “and i paid for that magical poemy pillow you said you’d been wanting!” the other also added.
