Love through a boy's eyes

Chapter 1: Finding Love

"Breakfast is ready"

I was woken by these words, nothing different, just like any other morning, with the soothing smell of bacon and eggs. This day was no different, I kept telling myself but it was the big day after all, the Smiths were to move in next door today, new neighbors. 

I ran downstairs as fast as I could to gobble down my breakfast. My taste buds were in heaven, there was something about the way my mom, Mrs Jean South, prepared eggs, maybe it was the spices or maybe it was just a touch of love, either way it was always divine, every morning.

 "Thank you" I said as I was wiping my mouth.

 I made my way up to my room, I was gonna take a quick shower, as I opened the bathroom door, I heard it, what I was waiting for the whole morning.

My ears were greeted with a loud roaring sound.

"could it be?"

It was indeed the new neighbors, I was so happy, it felt like my eyes were about to gash out of my skull, I made my way to the front door as fast as I could, running, jumping finally I made it to the front door, immediately I was greeted with a brush of cold air, it felt like it was winter but it was indeed the middle of summer.

I was at the door but there was no one outside, no neighbors, nothing. "I must've missed them" I said to myself, walking back into the house, suddenly I heard a loud soothing laughter, it was like a baby's laugh, not the loud kind but just right.

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me to see where this laughter was coming from, before I knew it I was standing right there in the new neighbors kitchen, and there she was, the love of my life, Penny.

I don't know why my heart pounded faster every time I saw her, it was like an adrenaline shot, only it felt much better, maybe it was her sky blue eyes or her hair as black as the night, maybe it was her skin that was as white as snow, but I knew one thing for sure, I was in love and when she was around I felt perfect. 

"well,don't just stand there, greet someone" my mom insisted.

My legs couldn't move,she was looking straight at me, oh boy, my tongue couldn't speak any words, I was like a baby who could barely talk, it was like that other day at school when she asked me a question, but then it was different, then I wasn't standing in her house and my mom wasn't around.

'Hi penny', It was like a different voice, I didn't know it was this hard to talk until today.

'Hi Jimmy, lets go sit in my room, I wanna show you something'.

She grabbed me by the arm and pulled me up the stairs, she demanded that I go with her, I didn't have other plans, I could be with her the whole day, when I'm with her everything is perfect, nothing else matters. 

Her room had a strong scent of red roses, maybe it was her perfume, she always loves perfume.

'don't just stand there,dummy, sit'

I sat on her bed, it was the first time I've seen her this way, she was different, all bubbly and kind, don't get me wrong she was always kind but today she was too kind. I liked it when she was like this, I loved her even more.

She grabbed a old brown book out of her drawer. 

"Come look here,Jimmy"

I went over to the other side of the bed and sat right next to her.

"Red roses, yes it was her perfume"

She showed me a book full of old photos, us together, we use to be like family, now she's my best friend and I'm in love with her.

"Penny,come down here"

"Could you and Jimmy please go to the store for me" MRs Smith asked.

"sure" Penny replied.

She looked at me and brushed her fingers through her hair.

"Come, lets go, it's getting late."

It was a bit dark outside but the store was just around the corner.

"It should be a 5 min walk" I said to myself

Penny liked walking slow and I liked walking fast but I always walked at her pace and I did rush her now and then but she always use to keep her pace.

"I hope you know that we are not going to the store, right"

Where else could we be going at this time of the day, maybe she wanted to go to that old house, she always liked going there to take pictures, the place wasn't meant for two kids on their own it was too dangerous and besides it was on the other side of town.

"Where are we going then? the old house?"

"No, don't be silly, that's too far for us to walk now, We going to lizzy's house, shes having a party there.

Lizzy, I never liked her, she was always up to no good, always in trouble, but I followed penny not saying a word.

The party was full of people, both strangers and friends, Penny went with her friends and so did I.

It was almost midnight and the party was over, now to find Penny, I don't know why she never brings her phone along, now I have to go look for her.I went upstairs looking for penny, she should be in Lizzy's room sleeping. 

I've spent about 30 minutes now looking for Penny, she was no where to be found, she vanished into thin air, she wouldn't leave without me, would she? 

I ran upstairs once again to look for her, denying the fact that she might have left already. The bathroom door was closed, I knocked and knocked,no one answered, I entered, there she was, Penny, but she was lying on the floor and had a blue eye, she was unconscious.

I panicked, shaking I grabbed my phone from my pocket, trying to contact my mom.

"hello, mommy, Penny is unconscious, we are at Lizzy's house, Please come quickly!"

What a summer this is going to be and this is just the start.
