Sitting next to him was kinda awkward since Odette didn't even know what to say to him. But she finally gang a small bit of confidence to talk to him with a simple hello!
"Hi.." She looked at him for second. waiting for him to respond but no reply, maybe he still hates her for what happened earlier..She looks down feeling like she just made things worse. "Mh.." He responded, his voice sounding cold and uninterested in even talking to her.
Well this would surely be a fun ride to school huh?
CLASSROOM
Already getting a group project assigned to her was a bit nerve racking, especially when she only met 1 person who barely even talked to her. As the students went to sit with their assigned partners guess who Odette got paired with?
"Ms. Harrison and..Thompson you two go sit with each other and discuss about what your presentation is going to be okay?"
Thompson?
Looking around the class to find him she spots a boy sitting alone in the back of the classroom- oh.. it's him. She takes a deep breath and walks over towards his desk and sits next to him.
"Hey.. I guess we're gonna be partners huh?" She laughs nervously as he nods with a small "mhm".
"So do you have any ideas of what we're going to do?"
"Well... I was thinking if this is about the book we're going to be studying maybe you could do the research while I make the presentation"
"Oh that's a good idea! but I won't be here tomorrow though because I still have to help my mom with the house"
"I can come over there after school if that's okay with you" Come over her house? she thought about the offer for a bit, her mom would probably kill her but maybe she'll understand it's for the assignment right...?
"Yeah I'm alright with that also I haven't gotten your full name yet"
He chuckles "Derek Thompson. What's yours?" This was the first time he actually sounded interested in talking to her.. wow
"Odette Harrison, I had another question too-"
The bell rings singling class to be dismissed. Derek grabs his bag and gets up from his seat. "I'll catch you later yeah?"
"Yeah!" well that was fast maybe she could ask him when they get on the bus. He seemed really nice than what she thought previously about him.
