THE MAGIC OF CANDY: WILLY WONKA 2023

STORM

WONKA POV

The alarm clock went off and I saw the sunlight coming through my window. Today was going to be Iris first day of work.

I got up and prepared everything. I went to the kitchen and asked the oompa loompa to make the best and healthiest breakfast. Once they finished, I went to the garden and got the prettiest flowers I found.

I was preparing the table when I heard her voice.

"Good morning Mr. Wonka" I heard her voice. I turned around and saw her with the pink and white striped uniform. She was beautiful.

"You are so beautiful" I said.

"I look like a candy cane." She said smiling and sitting down. I sat down with her.

"A beautiful candy cane" I said. She smiled and we started eating. We talked about our day and what things have to be done in the store. 

"We might have to close early today. A storm is coming" I said. Her smiled vanished. And I could see fear in her eyes.

"A- a storm?" She asked.

"Yeah... That's what they say in the newspaper. " I said.

"I hate storms.." She said and we continued eating. 

"These are for you." I said giving her the flowers. Her smile came back and she grab them. She smelled them and thank me for them. 

"You are too sweet Wonka. I might have to get away from you" She said laughing a  little. I didn't smile. 

"Please don't" I said. 

"I won't. I promise" She said touching my hand making the butterflies  of my stomach flutter. 

We finished eating and then we went to work. I droved the car and we went to the store.  

"Iris!!!" the employees said as she entered the store. Everyone hugged her and they worked.

Everything looked right. Everyone was happy and I had Iris in my shop. She looked so beautiful between the candy and she had this special smile for the customers. She even looked happy with Noodle by her side sometimes laughing at something Noodle said.

"Wonka.. I think we should close soon. The storm is getting close, we should all go home."Noodle said looking how customers were rushing to get home.

"Yeah ..Please tell everyone that the store would be closing soon" I said grabbing some recipes for new candy. I was going to work at home.

Everyone said goodbye and left. Leaving Noodle and Iris with me. We took Noodle to her home. And then we left home. I could sense Iris was tense. She was often looking at the sky.

"We will be home soon." I reassure her holding her hand. She looked scared. When we entered and I help her take off her coat. She relaxed a little.

"We're home" I said smiling. She smiled back.

"Thank you" she said quietly.

"I'll ask the oompas to prepare dinner." I said.

"Actually, I'm tired. I'll go to my room. Goodnight Willy." She said kissing my cheek and going to her room. Something was not right. 

I decided to go eat dinner alone and went to work on some chocolate. I stayed late and decided to go to sleep. I was walking to my room when I heard a crying and some whispers coming from Iris room. I  got closer and decided to hear. 

"Please no! Please! Please!!" I heard louder.

"Iris?" I asked. 

"NOOO! PLEASE STOP! HELP!" She screamed. I decided to push the door with my shoulder afraid to see something or someone broke in. But instead, I saw a crying Iris covered in sweat crying over a nightmare. 

"iris!!" I ran to her side and tried to wake her up. 

"Help me. I'm scare! Mamma, I'm scare" She said. 

"Shh... darling, I'm here" I said wrapping my arms around her. 

"Willy?" She asked reaching for me. Holding me tight. 

"Hello darling." I said.

"I'm safe." She said.

"Yes, you are safe. You are with me." I said trying to make her relax. She took deep breaths and closed her eyes. She relaxed in my arms.

"Are you much better?" I asked. Looking at her face.  Then a flash of lighting cane to her dark room. She tensed a little..

"You know, my mother would tell me to count between the flash and the sound of the thunder. When the number of seconds gets longer. That means the storm is passing. Want to try?" I asked. She nodded her head.

There was a flash. I looked at her eyes.

"1,2,3,4" we said together. Then the sound came. She hold my hand tight. We continued doing that for quite some time. Soon the storm passed.

"Much better?" I asked grabbing her face lightly.

"Yes..." She whispered. "Thank you Willy."

"Anytime" I said looking at her face so close to me. I cleared my throat and got out of the bed. "My mission here is done. I should let you rest." I said.

"Please..  can you... Umm" She said looking everywhere except me.

"Stay?" I asked with an eyebrow raised.

"Can you sleep with me tonight?" She asked looking down at her hands.

I wish I could sleep with you every night. I thought.

"Yeah, sure." I said taking off my coat and boots. She made space in her bed and I got in. We were looking both to the ceiling.

"Thanks Wonka. Thank you for everything." She said turning her head to see me. I turned to her. She had her hand on her pillow. I touched her hand.

"I'll do anything for you..." I said smiling. She smiled and closed her eyes. I smiled back and decided to close my eyes. And we slept like that, holding hands.
