There was a period in your relationship with Gojo where he felt more like a brother rather than a parental figure. He was quite young when adopting you at thirteen so in your mind that piece had not clicked in till a lot later.

You didn't know if that had hurt him. Maybe that was your selfish side to not acknowledge him in that way. You didn't want to lose the only dad you would ever have. But in this moment you regretted not looking up to him as a father sooner.

Because as you look into your blood relative's eyes that mirror yours, all you want tot do is hide behind your dad's legs knowing he would protect his daughter with all his might.

"William." The grip on Jupiter's daggers tightens with your fear and determination. You also knew that Gojo would have faith in you to finish this yourself. He knows you're not weak but these days you have been starting to question that blind belief.

Megumi grinds his teeth at the sight of the tall man standing before you all. He spins his scythe into a pen, placing in his shirt pocket.

Panda and Kirara stand completely still, the pressure of William's presence alone straining and clawing at their muscles, their minds screaming to not make one wrong move.

Panda notices the striking resemblance between you and your uncle, making him sweat with nerves.

"You know I wondered if I should search for you within the colonies of the culling games but instead I find you playing mouse at a gambling ring. Not judging by the way. I was a rebellious kid too but I guess my expectations for you were higher than this." William shrugs. "No matter. You won't be staying in Japan for much longer."

"You killed me once." Your voice turns cold.

"Well yes... but technically all I did was awaken the curse within you. If I truly wished for your demise, I promise, your grave would already be covered in soil." He smiles.

"You sealed my father."

"Well, I heard he's not your pops anymore. You're essentially an orphan again-"

"Which ear did you hear that from, ohhh right! You only have one since Nanami sliced the other one clean off your bloated skull." The shine in your eyes was as sharp as a blade.

William's smile falls slowly.

The three bystanders couldn't form any words to diffuse the growing intensity, ping-ponging their gaze from one L/n to the other.

"What do you want, truly? You've awakened Deidamia much to her dismay. Why?"

"Sorry, but I don't give out information just because dear ole Y/n asks. I'm just here to retrieve you." He crosses his arms.

"Over my dead body."

"If that's what it comes to." The shadow of his hair covers his piercing gaze. "It would be shame but I'm not above killing you to get what I need."

"Y/n..."

Megumi's voice draws you in. He kneels beside his demon dog, pleading silently to step down to not engage. The last time you both battled William it was so one-sided that William could have been mistaken for fighting air.

Kirara watches the exchange with slight interest.

"I'll find you. I bet I'll be back before you finish this, rival." You show him a toothless smile.

He doesn't reciprocate. Instead, he seemed stricken. He shakes his head. "Don't."

"You won't beat me in this bet." You go on. "Just break it when you see it."

"What...?" The confusion in Megumi's face was laughable but you sighed instead, facing William once more.

"I'm not going with you so you would have to kill me."

William is behind you when you blink. "Done." His hand lands on your shoulder and you take one last glance at Megumi before the location changes.

He watches as you disappear with the enemy and the air in his lungs seems to disappear along with you.

He sucks in oxygen repeatedly, and Panda and Kirara catch their breath as well.

"Who was that?!" Panda exclaims.

"...the head of the L/n clan. Y/n's uncle." Megumi's answers.

Kirara had no idea what had just transpired but she knew she had to get to Hakari as soon as possible.

"It's fine... Y/n knows what she's doing." Even Panda was trying to reassure himself.

"Yeah..." Megumi watches Kirara slowly turn towards the room. "I won't lose this bet either."

Even though he rather you take this victory. Not knowing that you were lying straight through your teeth.
