"What is your problem, Taehyung? I apologised, didn't I? You have been acting like this for three days." "I don't have any problem Jungkook, I am doing my job and staying out of your hair so you can rekindle your friendship with your long lost friend. That is what you want right? For me to step back?" "What are you talking about?" "Think Jungkook, how did you treat me since the first morning she was back. Now tell me, is that not a clear message? So, I am doing what you all want. Staying away, watching from afar as some girl hangs onto my supposed boyfriend, taking his attention all for herself. He couldn't even make our date night we have planned for a week, because she wanted to give gifts. So please, just leave me alone for now." Tae turned to walk away. "You forget that I am actually your boss Taehyung, your attitude is not appreciated. If this is about petty jealousy, maybe you need to stop and think for a bit. We have been boyfriends for a year, she has been in my life for 20 years". Tae stood in shock. Wow, did Jungkook really say that? He turned around. "I am sorry for my inappropriate attitude Mr Jeon. It will not happen again. I will make sure to keep my private life away from the office" Jungkook, realising what he just did, reached for Tae. "Shit, baby, I am..." "Excuse me, Mr Jeon, I have work and the office is no place for a private life which causes attitude." And Tae left. The second he left the office Mina barged in, trying again to cling to Jungkook, who shoved her away. "Leave Mina, you have not been employed here yet, so you have no business here now. Send your CV to Hobi at HR and he will inform you when and if you will be invited for an interview with my father, the CEO." "But Kookie, I thought you will arrange the job for me, a nice managing position close to you, or maybe your PA" Jungkook looked confused. "What? You thought because you are our friend you will get preferential treatment? That is not how it works." "Really Jungkook? Isn't that how your little toy boy got his cushy job? By sleeping with the boss' son?" "No, he didn't. He already worked here when we started dating. He got the job on his own merits. Excellent college results and work ethic. So don't talk about things you don't know anything about Mina. Now please leave, I have work to do". She tried again and again, until Jungkook's patience ran out. He forcefully pushed her out the door, asking the security to escort her out.

The cold war went on for 2 weeks. Taehyung did try to speak to Jungkook and the others more than once after work as he will now treat them at work as his boss and colleagues. Jungkook tried to speak to him at work, but Tae refused, he got the message loud and clear. Jungkook was very busy during the day and then even in the evenings, their texts were short. Mina apologised to Jungkook for her "assumption", and they were all again resuming their closeness. After work, she would invite the friends over and cling to Jungkook. After the 10th time Tae asked Jungkook to come over after work so they could talk and spend time together, getting Mina this and Mina that, Taehyung gave up.

He prepared his resignation letter. He could not handle the pain and heartache anymore.

The friends noticed the distance that developed between them and Taehyung. They saw how Jungkook tried to go to Taehyung after work, as Taehyung flatly ignored them all at work after the disastrous conversation with Jungkook. They saw how Mina always came in between. But what to do? They can't just choose, can they?

Jungkook walked into his office, finding Hobi waiting for him, an unhappy look on his face. "What is wrong hyung?" "Well, a lot actually. First, Mina sent her CV, a one pager, no credible qualifications except she can answer a phone and type on a computer. She wants to be your PA. Your dad laughed and told me to give it to you, she is your friend after all. So here it is. Secondly, I received a resignation letter via email this morning. Resignation with immediate effect. Kim Taehyung." Jungkook felt his heart stutter. No...it can't be. He knew he was busy, too busy, and they had their first huge fight, but they can still sort the problems out, can't they? He grabbed the letter out of Hobi's hand, seeing it with his own eyes. He grabbed his phone, dialling Tae's number, seeing it as he saved it that time My only love. The call did not connect. He stared at his phone. My only love...that he treated like crap since the day Mina came back. Shit, he fucked up so bad. He grabbed his keys, running into Namjoon that was coming down the hall. "Where is the fire, Kook?" Jungkook just ran, Hobi coming out of the office, telling what happened.

Jungkook raced to Tae's apartment, banging on the door, shouting Tae's name. The door finally opened, Tae standing in the door in his PJ's, eyes red and hair a mess. "What do you want Jungkook?" "Baby, we..." "I am not your baby, Jungkook. I am no-one of yours apparently, so do me a favour and leave me be. Go to your Boo, she will die without her hanging from your arm. Go quickly, before she reports you missing." Tae tried to close the door, but Jungkook put his foot in to stop Tae. "What the hell was that, Taehyung? Jealousy doesn't suit you. She is just my friend, nothing more. She is a touchy type of person, has always been. This is about us". "Uh, no, she doesn't hang onto anyone else, only you. While smirking at me. I really thought we had something special, you made me feel loved and special. But it was just a dream. One sided love will never work, and I will NOT be hurt anymore. I am breaking up with you Jungkook. Leave me alone now, go to your friends." Jungkook stood there shocked, this is not what he wanted, he wanted to talk to Tae and find a way to fix their relationship. But here he was having the door slammed in his face.

Tae's heart was breaking. Sitting on his couch, Tae went through his contacts and blocked all 6 of them. He didn't need that in his life. He didn't leave his apartment the whole day, receiving messages on the Wooga group, all of them asking if he was ok after hearing the talk around the water cooler. He told them what he did, and he needed some time. They supported him and he knew they will be there for him. Tae knew he would be fine financially for 3 months; he had some savings. So, for now, he was going to wallow in self-pity. And he did it properly, binge watching sad movies, binge eating everything in sight and crying, a lot.

Jungkook was devastated, he knew he fucked up, but tried to tell himself Tae was overreacting, and he will give him space and then talk to him. He was really in love with his angel but he himself was a bit stubborn as well.
