Noah and Christian sit on the floor of Christian's room as they try to make their way through the multiple homework they had been given for the weekend .
They sat there for a full five minutes before Christian breaks the silence.
"Okay we tried to do this it just didn't work out so lets just try again tomorrow." He said.
"Can't I have soccer practice tomorrow. We both do." Noah replied
"Fine lets take a break. We've been sitting here forever we earned it."
"We've been sitting here for 5 minutes actually how did we earn it?"
"Seriously? " Christian asked." Now you're pretending to be serious?"
Noah thought for a while before answering. "Yeah your right lets go to starbucks or something."
"Thank you." Christian said as he grabbed Noahs arm and dragged him out of the room. They put on their boots and coats and set out.
They had been best friends since kindergarten and were bothe football jocks. Noah however paid more attention in school and Christian to parties. It didn't matter though. They were 16 now they would go to college in 2 years on sports scholarships hopefully and so Christian thought it didn't matter.
As they drove with Noah driving and Christian in the passenger seat they kept talking about random things.
"So you and kylie huh?" Christian started.
"What about us?"
"Are you really that oblivious or are you intentionally ignoring the fact that she likes you?" He asked pretending to be annoyed.
"She and I are friends thats all." Noah replied.
"You Seriously cant tell me you feel nothing for her"
"Of course I feel something for her. Just not in the way you're thinking." Noah replied.
"You're still playing the self righteous asshole huh?"
"What no i just....." Noah trailed of as he saw as he sped past a face on the pavement. It was just a face right? No no no. This was a face that shouldn't be a face anymore. This person was dead. He had seen the body. But how the hell was that face one block away?!
He could distantly hear Christian calling his name but it wasn't until he fely his hands on the staring wheel violently turning it did he snap out of his thoughts.
He heard a few cars horn and a few people shouting at them to watch where they were going but apart from that they were fine.
"Dude what the hell? What happened?" Christian asked as Noah tried to regain his composure and focus on driving.
"Sorry i just got carried away."
"You getting carried away almost got us killed." He yelled. Then his face softened and he asked gently." Hey you okay?"
Christian knew. He knew everything. He was also there. But he couldn't tell him. He would worry. And also tell his aunt. And then she would also worry. He didn't want that.
"I'm okay." He said as he pulled over at the Starbucks drive through.
"You sure?"
"Yeah"
"Ok." He said. 5 minutes later they were drinking coffee Christian resumed his interrogation.
"It's Kylie right?" He said.
"What?"
"The reason you got distracted. You were thinking about kylie."
"No i was not."
That was not what he was thinking about. He was wondering how a dead man could be walking the streets.
He knew he was not mistaken.
He had seen the corpse of that man. And it was pretty difficult to forget the face of the man who was the reason he lived with his aunt. The man who orphaned him.

The face of the man who killed his parents. Robert Graham.
