Aahana's POV
After what felt like an eternity, I finally stepped out of the airport and into the cool Boston air. My limbs were stiff from the long flight, and my mind was a haze of exhaustion and excitement. The taxi ride to my new apartment was a blur of unfamiliar streets and towering buildings, a stark contrast to the crowded, bustling lanes of my hometown in India.
When the taxi pulled up to a modest pastel coloured building, I took a deep breath. This was it. My new home. I paid the driver and hauled my luggage out of the trunk, the weight of my bags mirroring the exhaustion I felt. I made my way to the third floor, each step feeling heavier than the last.
As I stood in front of the apartment door, I suddenly realised something was missing. My hand flew to my wrist, and my heart sank.
"Fuck....i lost it" I whispered, feeling a wave of panic wash over me. I couldn't believe I'd been so careless. The bracelet. The bracelet that my grandmother had given me before she passed away, the one that held so many precious memories. I must have lost it on the plane.
Almost immediately, the door swung open to reveal a petite girl with a bright smile and twinkling eyes.
"You must be Aahana!" she exclaimed, her enthusiasm infectious. "I'm Trisha. Come on in!"
"Hi" I said, managing a tired smile despite the sinking feeling in my chest. "It's nice to meet you."
"Let me help you with that," Trisha offered, taking one of my bags. "You must be exhausted after such a long journey."
"Thanks," I mumbled, allowing Trisha to take one of my smaller bags. I stepped inside, the coziness of the apartment wrapping around me like a warm blanket, the living room was decorated with colourful cushions and a few posters of funny quotes. The scent of freshly brewed coffee lingered in the air.
As I unpacked my belongings, I let my mind wander. Trisha's bubbly nature was a stark contrast to my own introverted personality, but there was something comforting about her openness. Maybe this was exactly what I needed – someone to pull me out of my shell, to show me that it was okay to embrace life with a bit more enthusiasm.
A few hours later, after unpacking and arranging my things, I felt a sense of accomplishment. My room was now a blend of familiarity and new beginnings, with my favourite books lined up on the shelf and my cozy blankets spread out on the bed.
I took a deep breath and ventured into the living room, where Trisha was waiting with a grin. "Ready for coffee?" she asked.
"Yes, I think I am," I replied, my smile growing a bit wider.
We kept on chit chatting for a long time, sharing our hobbies and dreams, we got even more closer to each other.
Finally, as the evening wore on, I couldn't fight my exhaustion any longer. "I think I need to crash," I said, stifling another yawn. "It's been a long day."
"Of course," Trisha said, standing up. "Get some rest. We have plenty of time to catch up and explore the city."
"Thanks" I said, feeling genuinely grateful. "I'm really glad we're roommates."
"Me too, Aahana," she said with a warm smile.
I retreated to my room and collapsed onto the bed, my body sinking into the mattress. As I closed my eyes, I felt a sense of contentment wash over me. Despite the challenges and the homesickness, this new beginning held promise.
As I drifted off to sleep, my thoughts briefly wandered back to Reyansh and the strange, brief connection we shared. I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something significant about him, something I was missing.

Little did she know, at that very moment, Reyansh was holding her grandmother's bracelet in his hands, examining the delicate engraving of Aahana. His thoughts were consumed by the girl with the fearful eyes and the quiet strength, and he was determined to find her again.
