It seemed as though Severus had been in a horrid mood the last couple of days, lashing out at anything and anyone who crossed his path. You tried your best to be understanding, but even your well of patience was beginning to run dry.

One evening, after a particularly rough day, you found him in the dungeons, muttering to himself while grading papers. "What's gotten your wand in a twist?" you quipped, your voice laced with gentle humor in hopes of lifting his spirits.

However, instead of the expected chuckle, you were met with a sharp retort. "Don't test me," he growled, his dark eyes glinting with annoyance.

"Well, excuse me for caring about you," you mumbled, crossing your arms defensively over your chest. "You just seem unusually irritable lately."

"And you seem unusually insufferable," he shot back, a slight raise in his voice. "I'm tired, overworked, and in no mood for your antics. You're well aware of my temperament, so just leave me alone."

You felt a spark of frustration ignite within you at his dismissive tone. "Well there's no need to be a grumpy bat about it," you blurted out, unable to bite your tongue.

At that moment, something seemed to snap in Severus. He slammed his quill on the table with a sharp thud before turning to face you fully, his expression twisted in anger and exasperation. "This is who I am, and that is not going to change just because you've suddenly decided to take notice," he ground out through clenched teeth. "I suggest you learn to accept the reality of the situation rather than trying to change someone who has no desire to change!"

Your patience finally wore thin. Without thinking, you grabbed your wand and pointed it at Severus. "You want to be a grumpy bat? Fine, have it your way."

Before he could react, you flicked your wand and muttered a quick incantation. In an instant, Severus transformed into a tiny black bat, his features shrinking and reshaping until he was a miniature version of himself, complete with fluffy fur and delicate wings.

The small creature blinked in shock, his eyes wide and fangs bared in astonishment. "This is highly undignified! Turn me back this instant!" he tried to argue, but all that came out was a series of high-pitched squeaks as he fluttered his wings in protest.

You almost regretted the impulsive move, but couldn't help bursting into laughter at how adorable he looked. The tiny bat shot you a pointed glare, one that could rival even his human form's famous scowl. With a dramatic huff, Severus attempted to fly away, but you caught him gently in your hands, careful not to startle him further.

As he squirmed slightly, you brought the miniature Severus close to your face and planted a soft kiss on top of his tiny bat head. "Oh, stop pouting," you teased, unable to contain your amusement. "I'm only trying to help."

Severus let out a deep sigh, but you could see the corners of his mouth quirk up in a reluctant smile. To your surprise, the little bat seemed to relax, his wings settling as he emitted a contented purr that sounded almost like a happy chirp. He cuddled himself into the palm of your hand, nuzzling his body under your gentle touch.

"See? Isn't this better?" you whispered, your voice soothing as you began to rub his little tummy. The small creature responded with a few more happy chirps, the tension from your earlier argument melting away in the warmth of your affection. He pressed his body further into your hand, enjoying the feeling of your fingers brushing over his soft fur.

After a little while, Severus let out another deep sigh and slowly lifted his head to look at you, his dark eyes meeting yours with a more vulnerable expression.

"Now, promise to be nicer, or I might just have to keep you like this forever," you teased, wagging a finger at him playfully. He nodded his little bat head, signaling that he understood your request.

Satisfied with his response, you chanted the reversal spell and in a flash of light, the tiny creature morphed back into your beloved Severus.  He appeared slightly disheveled but wore a soft smile on his lips, a stark contrast to his earlier grumpiness.

"I suppose I deserved that," he chuckled, taking your hand and pulling you into a warm embrace. "I'm sorry for taking my frustration out on you, love."

You smiled back, feeling a sense of relief as the tension between you dissipated. "It's all right, Severus. We all have our moments."

"I'll try not to let my grumpiness get the better of me next time," he whispered, placing a tender kiss to your cheek. "Just promise never to pull that little stunt on me ever again."

You couldn't resist smirking at the thought. "Yeah? Or what?"

With deliberate slowness, Severus leaned in closer, making you shiver at the unmistakable sensation of fangs gently grazing over your neck.

"Well let's just say there's still a bit of bat in the old wizard yet."
