Low on sugar. {Paige Bueckers- GL}

Chapter 10

Kiara's pov-

I'm in the back seat with Mia, KK, and Nika. We are all screaming our hearts out to 'let it go' from Frozen while Paige drives and Aaliyah is in the front seat, the rest of the basketball team is in Ice's car.

We are all going to their basketball game, when we arrive Geno and the nurse plus a few other people are already there. The girls go change in the locker room as Mia and I both go to our seats, they are close to the court but still four or five rows away.

When the girls come out the locker room almost the whole gym is filled up already, the girls start practicing until the other team shows up.

The other team shows up after a few minutes and they start the game at seven p.m. The other team starts with the ball and they try and shoot it but when they do Aaliyah blocks them and they get the ball, at half time everyone took a break.

I start feeling really dizzy but I'm thinking nothing of it, I stand up to use the restroom but when I come back a few minutes later the game already resumed.

I'm feeling really dizzy now and everything is kind of starting to spin, I'm also starting to feel a little light headed. I'm taking deep breathes to try and stop feeling light headed but it doesn't work.

Paige got a free throw because the other player pushed Paige really hard on the floor, Paige got all three in then looked at me a winked with a smile before we went back to playing.

  Mia: "ahh, look how hot Aaliyah looks right now! Like..she's all sweaty, oh my gosh.."

  Kiara: "Paige's better.."

  Mia: "mhm..yeah, totally...hey, are you okay.? You look like you're dizzy-...."

  Kiara: "I'm fine.. I'm just going to go outside for air-.."

I fall to the floor, fainting before ai can even finish my sentence or take a step forward.

Mia's pov-

  Mia: "Kia! Kia!! Wake up!"

I'm trying to get Kiara to wake back up but it's not working, two boys that were sitting by us stood up and helped me lift Kiara on to our seats.

Geno calls a timeout for the team and they stop but I don't pay attention, I keep trying to wake Kiara back up. I look back up again and I see Nika, Aaliyah, and Paige jogging towards us with Paige in the front almost fully sprinting.

  Paige: "what happened.!?"

  Mia: "s-she just fainted! I don't know what-..."

I start crying before I can finish my sentence, this has happened to Kiara at least once or twice before  and it always ended up with her in the hospital.

One time she wouldn't wake up for two days so I'm very worried, Paige picked her up and started bringing her to the locker room. Aaliyah helps me bring me and Kiara's stuff and we follow them to the locker room.

The nurse checks Kiara out and she says that she's just passed out and she'll wake up in a few minutes or hours, I'm not really crying anymore but the last time a doctor said that she was asleep for two days.

The girls go back out with the nurse leaving me and Kiara in the locker room.

Paige's pov-

When we all go back out everyone is clapping, I don't know why but they are. After the game we won with 78-72, I run back to the locker room as fast as I can.

I open the door and I see Kiara trying to walk to the bathroom while holding on to stuff while Mia is asleep and I think Kiara put headphones on her because they are over her hair.

  Paige: "Kai!"

I go up to Kiara and help her walk to the restroom, she is shaking a little and she looks very weak but she still tries to give me a smile which makes me smile.

After she uses the restroom I help her back onto the bed she was on before and she checks her blood sugar 61, that's dangerously low for her so she drinks some juice and just lays down, staring at the ceiling.

Everyone else enters the locker room and ask Kiara if she is okay, Aaliyah goes and wakes Mia up before carrying her to another bed nearby.

We all get back in the car(s) after a few interviews and we start driving, I let Nika drive as I sit next to Kiara in the back back seat of the van so she can lay down.

KK goes live and we start answering questions, after a while I get handed the phone and I answer questions with Kiara sitting on my lap. They can't really see her but to be safe I place a blanket over her to hide her because we still haven't gone public.

Everyone was asking me about who was the girl I was carrying to the locker room and why did I carry her out the building, I answer different questions about the game and try to ignore the questions about Kiara.

Some people recognized Kiara from volleyball and said something but not many people knew so I stayed quiet, Kiara wakes back up after a while so I give the phone back to KK so I can talk to Kiara.

When we arrive at the dorms I carry Kiara inside and we all watch a movie on my couch before most of us fall asleep, some people leave to go see someone or they just leave because they have somewhere to go.

Kiara has volleyball practice but I texted her coach and told her Kiara's not coming in for practice because she fainted and she's extremely weak right now.

I'm cuddling Kiara and I can feel her shaking but she's not cold, I put a blanket over her then I fell asleep with her.
