OLIVER FELT LIKE A MONSTER. It was unsettling to see himself that way, but after everything Echidna had said, he couldn't help but wonder: was he really a good person, or was he destined to betray Percy? He was unsure.

When they were at Medusa's place, he had convinced himself it couldn't be him. The prophecy couldn't be about him. But now, after everything that had happened, Oliver couldn't even muster a reason to believe he was the traitor.

"Go inside." Echidna suddenly commanded, breaking his train of thought. The Chimera stood beside her, growling softly but not attacking. For some reason, Echidna didn't want him dead. At least not yet.

Hesitantly, he stepped forward, casting a nervous glance at the Chimera. Across from him, he saw Percy, sword in hand. But Percy looked different—pale, weak, something was very wrong.

"This is the end, sweethearts. For both of you. Don't resist. You'll only make her angry," Echidna warned, standing behind her monster as it approached Percy.

Oliver felt numb again, a familiar sensation. But this time, it was different. This time, he wanted to fight it. Without a second thought, he drew his pen, which quickly transformed into Flow, and struck the Chimera's leg.

The next moments were a blur. The Chimera slashed his chest with its claws, and Oliver staggered back, leaning against the wall. He glanced at Percy, who looked worried. Oliver wanted to move towards him, but he couldn't. Every breath was a struggle.

Everything became muffled. For a few minutes, he closed his eyes. This was it. He was going to die. He slowly collapsed to the ground, nearly lying down. Then, he felt himself being dragged. He opened his eyes slightly and saw Echidna.

"I'm so sorry you had to end up like this." she sighed before throwing him out of the arch through the hole the Chimera had made.
