Months passed, and life slowly returned to normal. Ava and Ethan built a routine, finding joy in the simple things—cooking meals together, exploring the city, and making new memories.
Ethan's counseling sessions were helping. He was learning to manage his anger and deal with the underlying issues that had driven him to such a desperate place. Ava attended some of the sessions with him, supporting his journey and working through her own fears.
One day, as they walked through Central Park, Ethan stopped and turned to Ava. "There's something I want to ask you," he said, his eyes serious.
Ava's heart skipped a beat. "What is it?"
Ethan took her hands in his. "I've been through a lot, and I know I've made mistakes. But I've learned so much from this experience, and I've realized how much you mean to me. Ava, will you marry me?"
Ava felt tears welling up in her eyes. "Yes, Ethan. Yes, I will."
They embraced, the past months of fear and uncertainty melting away in that moment. They had faced the darkness and come out stronger, ready to build a future together.
