It was just an ordinary day until the Smiling Critters group gathered for a chat.

Dogday: Alright, everyone, how about we go camping?

Craftycorn: That would be a great idea, but there are eight of us, and we only have seven tents.

Bubba: One of the tents has room for two people. Who’s going to pair up with whom?

Catnap thinks about suggesting he could join Dogday but feels too shy and says nothing. Then Dogday speaks up:

Dogday: Well, I think I could team up with Catnap. Any problem with that, Catnap?

Catnap: I... Well... I guess not... I don’t see a problem sharing a tent with you...

Bubba: Alright then. Let’s do this tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. Okay?

Smiling Critters: Okay!

The next day, at that exact time, everyone was ready to go camping. After arriving at the site and setting up the tents, they started enjoying themselves. Catnap sits leaning against a tree, too shy to interact with the rest of the group. Dogday notices Catnap isolating himself and approaches him.

Dogday: Hey Catnap, why are you sitting here all alone?

Catnap: It’s just... I don’t really know how to interact...

Dogday: Oh, no need to be shy. Come with me, let’s do something, please!

Dogday gives a friendly smile while extending his hand to Catnap, his tail wagging happily. Catnap thinks to himself, “He’s always so cheerful... I have to admit, I find his way of being really cute...” Catnap takes Dogday’s hand.

Catnap: I... Well... Okay, let’s go...

Dogday: That’s it! Let’s go! I promise you’ll love it!

Dogday takes Catnap to where the rest of the group is. It was a really fun day; Catnap managed to enjoy himself, something he rarely does. At night, everyone goes into their tents, with Catnap entering the same tent as Dogday.

Catnap: Today was a really nice day, wasn’t it?

Dogday: Yeah, it was amazing! I rarely see you laughing and interacting like that. Your smile is really cute, by the way!

Catnap begins to blush at the compliment but tries to hide the redness on his face.

Catnap: Oh... Thank you... I think your smile is cute too.

Dogday: You’re welcome, my little kitty!

Catnap shivers slightly and blushes even more when called “my little kitty.”

Dogday: Catnap, are you sleepy?

Catnap: No. Why?

Dogday: It’s just that I wanted to ask... How about we step out of the tent and watch the night sky for a bit?

Catnap: I... I think I’d like that...

They leave the tent and sit by the edge of a small river near where the tents are set up, gazing at the stars.

Dogday: The night sky is so beautiful, isn’t it?

Catnap: Yes... It’s totally my vibe...

Dogday: No wonder they call you the night cat... And you know... You’re as beautiful as the night sky...

Catnap: I... Thank you... Uh...

Catnap feels awkward and doesn’t know how to respond, just blushing a little.

Dogday: You know... Sometimes I really feel like ki-

Dogday is interrupted by a voice calling them back to the tents, breaking the mood between them. It’s Hoppy.

Hoppy: What were you two doing out here at this hour?

Dogday: We were just watching the night sky...

Hoppy: I think you two should get back to your tent.

They return to the tent and go to sleep, both frustrated by the interrupted moment.

End of Day One.
