Ah, yes.  Vines.  Dirt.  Old books.

I sat at the Abandoned Library, waiting.  Sunlight filtered through the torn-up roof and what remained of the windows.  The smell of old paper and mildew was everywhere.  It wasn't exactly... pleasant.  But that was okay!

I knew the non-steve would show up at any minute!  We would talk, and become friends.  I could ask him questions, and learn about him!  Then, we would train, and he would get better with his powers, and it would be awesome and-

Okay how was he still not here?  The letter had been very obvious.  Had he really missed it?

If he did... He was sure to find it any second now.  Then, he would come running to the library, and I would still be here, and he would be surprised, but happy.  Then, we would talk, and be friends, and I could ask him about all the cool steves he's met!  I wonder what his favorite book is? - Why didn't I bring a book?- Or what foods he likes?  Does he eat the same food that we do?  Or does he eat other things, like grass?

I continued to sit.  Alone.  Bored. Waiting.

This was ridiculous.  Obviously, there needed to be another letter.

I pull a book and quill out of my inventory, starting to scribble another message.  It wouldn't be as formal-looking as the last one, but it would have to do.

Hi!  Sorry if you didn't get my last message (It's on your table).

I'll wait in the library again tomorrow so we can talk.

I hesitated for a moment, then wrote:

Please show up.

-Mysterious Figure

Satisfied, I carefully folded up the note.  I stood up, feeling sore from sitting for so long, and stretched.  It was mid-afternoon by this point, which meant I didn't have long before my leader started to worry.

I needed to deliver the note: a quick in-and-out.  Just like last time.

But... there was also the scenic route.

I shouldn't.  The Leader wouldn't be happy.

But after sitting alone for hours in a dilapidated building, I thought I deserved a little harmless fun.

I teleported inside the walls, careful to keep out of sight on my way in.  I tugged my hood down farther over my face.  It was a spare, not the iridescent one I kept at my house.  Inconspicuous as always.  Casually, I stepped into the streets.

Steves.  So.  Many.  Steves.  There was an orange one.  A yellow one.  A violet one.  To me, it felt like they were everywhere.  I felt tingly with excitement.

The whole kingdom seemed bright.  The houses and steves were like a stained glass window: different colors side by side, so bright they nearly bleed into on another.  Beautiful.

But something's missing.  There's no red.  Tiny traces across the citadel, sure.  But no steves.  No Red Steves but me.

I had the tiniest urge to stay here forever.  To never go back. Then it faded.

I was at his house.  I avoided the gaze of the Colorless Guards, ducked between buildings, and teleported in.  My gaze darted to the table where I left the last note.  It wasn't there.

Why?

This time, I snuck upstairs, leaving the new note on his pillow, where he's sure to see it.  That was where the Red Leader left me private summons.  It worked well for me.  Hopefully the same would be true for the non-steve.
