Autumn

Chaewon sighed, reviewing the festival proposals at her usual corner of the library. She was so engrossed in her work that she didn't notice Soobin approaching.

"Hey, Chaewon," Soobin greeted with his usual friendly smile.

She looked up, her heart skipping a beat. "Oh, hi Soobin. What's up?"

"I just wanted to see if you needed any help with the festival plans. It seems like a lot to handle on your own."

Chaewon smiled, feeling a flutter of excitement. "Thanks, Soobin. That would be great."

From a distance, Yunjin watched the interaction, her expression unreadable. She turned back to her bandmates, strumming her guitar a bit too harshly.

"Everything okay, Yunjin?" one of them asked.

"Yeah, just peachy," Yunjin muttered, her eyes flickering back to Chaewon and Soobin.

Winter

The school festival was in full swing. Chaewon had worked tirelessly to make sure everything went off without a hitch. Soobin had been a constant presence by her side, helping her with every detail.

"Great job, Chaewon," Soobin said, handing her a cup of hot cocoa. "You really outdid yourself."

Chaewon blushed, taking the cup. "Thanks, Soobin. I couldn't have done it without you."

Yunjin, performing on stage with her band, couldn't keep her eyes off them. Each smile and laugh shared between Chaewon and Soobin sent a pang through her chest.

After the performance, Yunjin stormed backstage, fuming. She didn't understand why seeing Chaewon with Soobin bothered her so much. It wasn't like she cared about Chaewon. Right?

Spring

Prom was approaching, and the air was filled with excitement. Chaewon had hoped Soobin might ask her, but he seemed oblivious. One afternoon, she found herself venting to Yunjin after yet another student council meeting.

"I don't get it. I thought Soobin might ask me to prom, but he hasn't said anything," Chaewon complained, more to herself than to Yunjin.

Yunjin raised an eyebrow. "Why do you even care so much about him? He's boring."

Chaewon shot her a glare. "Just because you don't care about anyone doesn't mean the rest of us are like that."

Yunjin looked taken aback, hurt flashing in her eyes before she masked it with anger. "Maybe he's not asking you because he's too busy being perfect and boring."

"Unlike you, who's too busy being reckless and irresponsible?" Chaewon retorted.

They stood there, glaring at each other, until Yunjin suddenly pulled Chaewon close and kissed her. It was desperate, angry, and full of emotions neither of them understood.

When they broke apart, both were breathing hard. Chaewon stared at Yunjin, shock and confusion battling within her.

"What was that?" Chaewon whispered.
