This is a personal piece. I wanted to draw a portrait that wasn't fanart and then i had an idea to incorporate Death's Head hawkmoths into it. I also just wanted a forward facing, symmetrical portrait for once.
I painted in grayscale then got the colours using a gradient map, focusing on using the colours of the moths.

It can't be seen on here, but i found this nice brush that gave the wings the shine they get from their scales (that dust stuff).
